Site-specific art came to prominence in the 1960 s,Originally,"site-specific " was a work of art designed for a specific physical location. In 1974,"site-specific " was incorporated into the guidelines of the National Environment Agency for the arts to promote the development of public art.Now,“site-specific public art ” generally refers to an artist's intervention in a specific locale, creating a work that is integrated with its surroundings and that explores its relationship to the topography of its locale to restructure the viewer's conceptual and perceptual experience of that locale through the artist's intervention.Through the location, object, individual will of the artist and the way of the masses to watch the site-specific public art works, the site-specific public art can be roughly divided into three types:presupposition type, intervention type and cooperation type.I hope to analyze and summarize these three forms to help us clarify the characteristics of site-specific public art and better grasp the internal relationship between public art and the public place. The writing ideas of this paper are as follows:The first chapter elaborates the dilemma and problems of site-specific public art.The second chapter analyzes and compares the cases of three forms of site-specific public art.The third chapter analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of site-specific public art projects.
