Based on the guidance of the dialectical materialism and historical materialismand taking the approach that the Chinese scholars used in their studies on the localization of Chinese Buddhism with the modern academic research method since modern times as a reference, making use of the rich literature materials in both Tibetan and Chinese languages, this paper explores the historical process, fundamental contents, main characteristics and current situation of the sinicization and localization of Tibetan Buddhism in four aspects of institution, culture, philosophical connotations and the existing circumstances from the perspective of hermeneutics, which reveals the internal relation in between the localization and sinicization of Tibetan Buddhism and its rationality. The highlights of this paper lie in the author's efforts as below.Firstly,it proposed new arguments based on the references of previous research and the in-depth study on a large number of undisclosed literature and data, such as tracing back the origin of the reincarnation theory of living Buddha of Tibetan Buddhism;making analyses on the differences between the three editions of Ye shes sde:ITa ba'i khyad par;sorting out the development and development of Tibetan Buddhism prajna metathesis;probing into the relationship between the five Ming cultures;making investigation on religious belief in typical Tibetan community.Secondly, this paper put forward the theoretical basis of localization and sinicization of foreign Buddhism on the basis of its demonstration of the natural historical process of the localization and sinicization of Tibetan Buddhism by combining the hermeneutics with historical materials of Tibetan Buddhism. This,as one of the highlights of this paper,is a new academic attempt to explore the localization and sinicization of Tibetan Buddhism by the method of historical narration-interspersed-with-comments.
