The present dissertation analyses the current legal framework for Chinese investments in Bulgaria and explores what Chinese investors should take into account, when performing a business activity in the country. The proposed analysis is conducted from the perspective of the successful realization of the BRI.On the basis of the connection "who can invest-what can invest-how to invest-how to protect the invested capital",this dissertation creates a first-hand legal manual, adapted specifically to the needs of Chinese investors on how to participate in the investment process in Bulgaria.Furtherarmore,it reveals what the specifications of the above-mentioned legal framework are, what difficulties Chinese investors could face, and proposes possible solutions for overcoming the said difficulties.By doing so,the present work aims to practically contribute to minimizing the investors' economic losses, which can arise out of unsuccessfully performed business projects. The proposed dissertation contains, furthermore, also suggestions for improvement of the said framework of legal rules,so to facilitate the positive decision by Chinese investors to enter Bulgarian market. It argues that the existing legal uncertainties, legal gaps or not regulated issues are obstacles, which inevitably lead either to extremely reserved attitude towards performing a business activity in Bulgaria,or to losses within the already being under performance projects. Moreover,it can be stated that such a legal environment could even have a partial negative impact on the successful realization of the BRI.The necessity of conducting the proposed research is justified by many socio-political,economic and legal reasons, but also by the deficiencies, which exist within the academic contributions, dealing to a certain extent with the problematique.Despite this, the completed research logically leads to other questions, which are worth future discussions and for which the present work can serve as a methodological and factual basis.
