Research On Political Barriers Of Chinese Multinational Corporations' Direct Investment In The United States

Today economic globalization has become an irreversible historical trend.As an important vector of economic globalization,foreign direct investment has become a significant force to promote economic globalization in the new trend of global economic integration.With the development of economic globalization,it is necessary for the developing countries and its multinational companies to join the system of global production division,in order to make full use of economic globalization.China will implement the “going global” strategy,which is an significant measure of China's participation in economic globalization.We should actualize the reform and opening-up policy through integrating our“bringing in” and “going global” strategies so as to participate in international economic and technological cooperation.As one of the largest economic entities in the world as well as the biggest developed country,the United States has become an important investment destination for Chinese multinational corporations in the new stage of Chinese economic reform.But many Chinese multinational enterprises were subjected to “security-gate” or “politic-gate” in the United States,it resulted in unfavorable influences on Chinese outward direct investment in the United States to a certain extent.So the further research of the barriers to Chinese multinational corporations in USA is needed.The paper focuses on the “political barrier” which Chinese multinational enterprises encountered when they invested in the United States.This paper also traces the development of China's outward direct investment and analyzes how globalization and China's outward direct investment impact each other.It also discusses the current situation of China's outward direct investment in America by case studies.This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the national security censorship system in the United States,the operation mechanism of the “political barrier” in the United States and the key reason of the emergence of the “political barrier”.Some American people hold that the national security is closely related to the interests of a country,so the United States government should construct the “political barrier” to some Chinese multinational enterprises for some political purpose.But it impaired the interests of Chinese multinational corporations as well as the most important interests of the United States.By analyzing the operation process and the reasons of the “political barrier” in the United States,this paper reveals the essence of massive intervention in Chinese multinational corporations' investment in USA.This paper also discusses the stakeholders' complex relations when Chinese multinational corporations invest in the United States.At last,the author puts forward some countermeasures to the“political barrier” for Chinese multinational corporations and Chinese government in order to eliminate the “political barrier”.
