Try To Describe The Means And Characteristics Of The United States' Implementation Of Its Democratic Export Strategy After The Cold War

Exporting Democracy strategy plays a significant role among American diplomatic policies.This strategy dates back to the very beginning of the founding of the United States.With American Exceptionalism,Manifest Destiny and liberalism thoughts as its ideological origin,the United States spread its political institutions along with its territorial expansion across North America towards the Pacific Ocean.During the Cold War,the strategy was further strengthened,German and Japan rapidly democratized,the ruling parties' governing positions reinforced in western Europe,the number of American's Allies increased.Meanwhile,the United States interfered outrageously with the third world countries in order to promote political transformations,thus made the global ideological battlefield an important one in which directly to impose peaceful evolution on and against the Soviet Union.The United States could be said to have exported democracy along its diplomatic history with its development.As the only superpower after Cold War,basing on its strong political,military and economic power,the United States promoted American values around the world much more aggressively,and intervened in over 20 countries in the name of "promoting democracy",further enhanced the strategic position and increased the intensity of the implementation of the Exporting Democracy strategy.When implementing the strategy,the United States takes DRL,USAID,NED and other official or unofficial agencies as the main channel and path,and uses a combination of hard means like military strikes,diplomatic pressure,economic sanctions,color revolution,as well as soft means like public diplomacy,foreign aids and others.While implementation,the United States takes different measures according to target countries' national power,domestic politics,relations with major powers,and its own conditions.This thesis summarizes the origin of thoughts,developing history,real activities,execution paths,specific means,influencing factors of the strategy,and selects two countries differ a lot in many aspects like political systems,Ukraine and Myanmar,to make a comprehensive analysis,and concludes that relations with major powers is the most important factor which influences the specific means the US chooses.Understanding the specific means and influencing factors of implementing the strategy of exporting democracy,is beneficial for China to judge in advance and respond after.Not only can we prevent the so called "democratic changes",maintain political safety and national security,but also can China secure other Belt and Road countries from American intervention and avoid bad influences to the B&R initiative.
