On The Course And Experience Of Atheism Publicity And Education Since Reform And Opening Up

Marxist atheism is an important part of China's mainstream ideology.Publicity of Marxist atheism is one of the important tasks of the Communist Party of China's mass media,which has always been attached great importance by the Party Central Committee.Atheism publicity and education has made great achievements in recent years,but in reality,there are still a few Party members who do not believe in Marxism-Leninism though believe in theism,and publicity of atheism still faces the situation of lack of discipline support and frequent stigma.Therefore,to comb and summarize the course and experience of atheism publicity and education since the reform and opening up,is of great significance to promote disciplinary construction of Marxist atheism,to clarify the stigma of the atheism publicity and education,and to maintain the advanced nature and purity of the Party.Through a large number of literature studies,it can be found that the process of atheism publicity and education since the reform and opening up can be divided into five periods.In the early stage of reform and opening up,the publicity and education of atheism cleared away the "left" mistakes,and insisted on taking Marxism as the guiding ideology to promote the discipline construction of Marxist religious studies according to the spirit of Mao Zedong's instruction of"studying religion and criticizing theism",which established the theoretical premise and built the discipline foundation for the publicity and education of atheism.During the period of reform and opening up in an all-round way,the Party Central Committee made an overall plan for the publicity and education of atheism in the new period.However,after the debate on "religion is the opium of the people" in the academic circles,the publicity and education of atheism gradually lost the discipline support and went to decline.As a result,the influence of theism continued to expand due to the loss of checks and balances.In the 1990s,in view of the spread of pseudoscience and feudal superstition brought about by social transformation and mysticism,a group of experts and scholars joined hands to vigorously promote atheism and assist the Party Central Committee in banning the"Falungong" cult,which made the publicity and education of atheism stand on a new starting point at the turn of the century.At the beginning of the new century,faced with the spread of "religious fever" and the aggravation of religious infiltration from abroad,the relevant departments of the central government made specific arrangements for the publicity and education of atheism and the defense of religious infiltration from abroad.The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences set up an entity research institute of Marxist atheism,laying a solid foundation for the long-term development of atheism publicity and education.Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,in the face of the rise of religious extremism and the controversy about the publicity and education of atheism,the Party Central Committee has resolutely curbed the spread of religious extremism and put forward new arguments such as "adhering to Marxist atheism is the great principle",which has opened up a new situation of theoretical innovation and practical development of atheism publicity and education.By summarizing this process,we can find that the publicity and education of atheism has always been able to adjust the focus of work,shoulder the responsibility of the times,and cope with the risks and challenges based on the situation at that time.In the long-term ideological struggle against theism,there is an inverse correlation between the publicity and education of atheism and the influence of theism.In terms of further promoting atheism publicity and education in the new era,the Party Central Committee's firm determination and sufficient attention are the basic premise,the responsibility and courage of scholars are powerful impetus,the implementation of central departments and local governments is an important support,and the mobilization and participation of the masses is a solid foundation.
