Research On The Development Of Elite Education In The Process Of Higher Education Expansion

Elite education,on the top part of higher education pyramid,is of great significance to social elites cultivation.The expansion in the modern higher education has caused unprecedented crisis to elite education,which is that in the elite higher education stage,higher education is to make students become knowledgeable person and a sane person;the popularization of higher education has made elite education shrinking into a tiny part of the higher education system,but not all.Then,due to the impact of of egalitarianism on the value of the university elitism,and the rapid expansion has break apart the traditional concept of higher education quality,elite education is facing the fate of being abandoned and exiled.In order to realize the co-existence between equality and excellence,scale and quality,elite education and mass education become mutual compromise.Although it has solve the problem on the surface,in fact some new problems arisingIn the popularization of higher education in developed countries,there is the trend of diversification in the elite education development,which are culture type diversification,purpose diversification and practice type diversification.As an inevitable phenomenon accompanied with scale expansion,and also as a natural extension of the connotation of elite diversification,the development trend of diversification would alleviate the crisis of elite education,and have better development.However,from more profound and broader perspective,it can be found that diversification is not most ideal,elite education should follow the three main development conceptions.Firstly,the trend of diversification should under the care of their own development to the overall system;secondly,the relationship between mass education and elite education should transfer from coexistence to symbiotic relationship;finally,based on the reflection of the crisis,the development of elite education should unify with the traditional concept and change viewBased on the analysis of the status quo,problems and development way of elite education in the process of expansion in developed countries,and the present situation and problems elite education development in China,the following aspects should be focused on:one way is to strengthen the education of elite consciousness,correct the misunderstanding on the elite education;secondly is that promote free competition system stratification and differentiation of function through appropriate planning;thirdly,to promote the diversification of elite education practice;forthly is to strengthen the practical form of the correlations in the elite education system,and play the whole function of the system;at the last,we should have basic consensus on the kind of elites which elite education is educating.
