Since the reform and opening up 40 years ago,China's population urbanization process has been accelerating,and has made remarkable achievements.However,influenced by subjective and objective factors such as traditional Chinese family concept,education concept and the gap between urban and rural education,the rapid development of population urbanization has also had a profound impact on urban and rural compulsory education,and the education urbanization is also quietly rising.At the same time,in the process of education urbanization,whether to provide better material conditions for children or to provide better care,parents go to the city to accompany reading has become a mainstream trend,and the level of population urbanization has also continued to develop.Therefore,the development of population urbanization and education urbanization is not isolated,but interrelated and interacted,and there is a coupling relationship between them.Strengthening the research on the coupling and coordination relationship of population urbanization and education urbanization in provinces of China is conducive to a correct understanding of the coupling and coordination relationship between population urbanization and education urbanization in provinces and regions,and is of great significance to the sustainable and healthy development of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces and even in the whole country.However,the mechanism of coupling and coordination development between population urbanization and education urbanization,how to measure the level of coupling and coordination development between population urbanization and education urbanization,and how to drive the coupling and coordination development between population urbanization and education urbanization still need to be further studied.In view of this,this paper takes 31 provinces in mainland China as the research object,and comprehensively adopts various theoretical and empirical analysis methods and techniques.Firstly,it analyses the evolution and dynamic correlation of the development pattern of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces,secondly,it analyses the theoretical mechanism of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces s and carries out an empirical test.Then the level of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces is measured and the space-time characteristics are also analyzed.Finally,the driving mechanism of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces is discussed.On this basis,the trend of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the next five years is predicted and analyzed.According to the above research work,the main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The level of population urbanization and education urbanization in Shanghai,Beijing,Tianjin,Zhejiang,Guangdong,Liaoning,Heilongjiang,Fujian,Jiangsu,Jilin,Inner Mongolia,Chongqing,Hainan are relatively high,while the level of population urbanization and education urbanization in Tibet,Guizhou,Yunnan,Gansu,Henan,Anhui,Xinjiang,Guangxi,Shaanxi,Ningxia,Qinghai,Sichuan,Hunan,Jiangxi,Shandong,Hubei,Hebei are relatively low.There is a dynamic relationship between population urbanization and education urbanization,which shows that the relative development speed of population urbanization and education urbanization in most provinces is relatively fast,and both maintain a positive interactive relationship.(2)From the theoretical view,population urbanization promotes the development of education urbanization,which mainly embodies in three aspects:population urbanization promotes the migration of a large number of rural school-age population to cities,promotes the gathering of rural high-quality education resources to cities,and promotes the radiation of advanced teaching concepts and educational ideas from cities to rural areas.The education urbanization promotes the development of population urbanization,which mainly embodies in the growth of urban population scale,the improvement of urban population quality and the improvement of urban population quality of life.From the empirical view,the panel error correction model and the bivariate spatial autocorrelation model confirm the existence of the theoretical mechanism of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in terms of time and space respectively.(3)Shanghai,Beijing,Tianjin and Zhejiang are provinces with relatively high level of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization,while Xinjiang,Guangxi,Anhui,Henan,Gansu,Guizhou,Yunnan and Tibet have relatively low level of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization.The level of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization shows a decreasing regional difference from east to west,but the gap between the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the eastern,central and western regions is narrowing.(4)The time characteristics of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces show that the degree of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in China is gradually increasing during the research period,and the gap between provinces in the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization is gradually narrowing.Except Shanghai,other provinces show a significant upward trend,especially in Anhui,Guizhou,Hainan,Guangxi,Shandong,Yunnan,Gansu,Henan and Hebei.On the whole,the probability that the coupling and coordination grade of population urbanization and education urbanization does not transfer is greater than that of transfer,and the coupling and coordination grade transfer of population urbanization and education urbanization shows the characteristics of cross-level transfer.The spatial characteristics of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces are as follows:the coupling and coordination degree of population urbanization and education urbanization in Chinese provinces shows a trend of high east-west and low west-cast,and high north-south and low south-east.The cold spots of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization are mainly distributed in the western inland areas of China,with the distribution scope expanding first and then decreasing,while the hot spots are relatively concentrated,mainly in the eastern coastal areas of China,with the distribution scope shrinking first and then expanding.The center of gravity of the coupling and coordination degree is generally distributed in the range of 111.872°-112.330°E,33.941°-34.238°N.It is roughly located in the western part of Henan Province.The trajectory of the center of gravity moves mainly in the southwest direction.The spatial distribution of the coupling and coordination degree between population urbanization and education urbanization shows a northeast-southwest distribution pattern,but it tends to change from north-south to south.At the same time,the spatial distribution trend of the coupling and coordination degree between population urbanization and education urbanization is weakening.(5)Generally speaking,the level of economic development,transportation infrastructure,non-agricultural industrial structure and investment in education funds are the positive driving factors for the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in China,while the income gap between urban and rural areas is the negative driving factor for the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in China.From the perspective of the three regions,the level of economic development,transportation infrastructure and non-agricultural industrial structure are the common driving factors for the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the eastern,central and western regions.The income gap between urban and rural areas has a significant restrictive effect on the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the central and western regions,but the restrictive effect of the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the eastern regions is not significant.Investment in education funds plays a significant role in promoting the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the eastern and central regions,but it does not play a significant role in promoting the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in the western regions.In different periods,the level of economic development,transportation infrastructure and non-agricultural industrial structure are the common driving factors for the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in 1997-2009 and 2010-2016.The income gap between urban and rural areas and the investment in education funds are the factors that affect the coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in 2010-2016,rather than the factors of coupling and coordination development of population urbanization and education urbanization in 1997-2009.(5)In the next five years,Beijing,Shanghai and Tianjin will still maintain the national leading edge,while Guizhou,Yunnan and Tibet will still have the end of the country,lagging behind most provinces.The coupling and coordination degree of population urbanization and education urbanization in all provinces is still on the rise.The average annual growth rate of Jiangxi,Henan and Guizhou is relatively fast,while that of Qinghai,Shanghai,Jiangsu and Beijing is relatively slow.From the perspective of the three regions,the eastern region still maintains the leading advantage,followed by the central regions,and the western regions have the lowest coupling and coordination degree between population urbanization and education urbanization.However,the average annual growth rate in the central regions is the fastest,followed by that in the western regions,and the slowest in the eastern regions.The gap in the coupling and coordination degree of population urbanization and education urbanization between the central and western regions and the eastern regions is still narrowing.There are four innovative points in this paper:firstly,it makes up for the gap of the research on the coupling and coordination mechanism between population urbanization and education urbanization;secondly,it makes a tentative exploration on the quantitative research in the related fields of population urbanization and education urbanization;thirdly,it also expands the research perspective and depth of the existing research from the perspective of geographical space,and provides a new way of thinking and a new direction worth exploring for the follow-up research.Finally,the analysis methods of temporal and spatial characteristics in this paper are beneficial to the existing system of spatial and temporal analysis.
