Research On Innovation Effect Of Internation Trade Fair On Enterprises

In the era of knowledge economy,knowledge plays an important role as an endogenous variable of economic growth.The economic competition between countries is increasingly manifested as the contest of innovation ability.Innovation and knowledge become the internal driving force of economic development.International trade fair,as the representative of the temporary industry gathering activities,can make the members of global industry gathering in a short time period,in addition to support the knowledge flow about market and innovation,but also create opportunities for actors to meet new trading partners,and establishing a network in global scope.Under the background of the new era,it is of great practical significance to re-understand the role of the international trade fair for the implementation of innovation driven national strategy.The debate between "local" and "global" has long been the focus of regional economics and economic geography.In recent years,a large number of studies have attempted to coordinate the relationship between local interaction and global contact,and criticized the past research which over-emphasizing the importance of local interaction.In this context,traditional industrial clusters theory based on local embeddedness has been more and more challenged.International trade fair can stimulate enterprises to generate new ideas,grasp the market trends and promote the establishment of new cooperative relations,which is closely linked with innovation.However,at present,the research on international trade fair is mainly concentrated in the field of marketing,and few scholars have noticed the influence of the international trade fair on industrial innovation.Therefore,study on the influence of international trade fair for enterprise innovation,to break the "local" and "global"debate,improve the existing theory of innovation,and to redefine the research direction about the trade fair is of great significance.The international trade fair should be regarded as an important node in the global innovation activities,which are both local and global,can promote the innovation of enterprises and spread their influence both locally and globally.In this paper,the overall framework and the reasoning of the ideas benefited from my supervisor's years of guidance and the long-term accumulation of our research team in the field of industrial cluster and innovation.The cooperation experience of a more than a year period and in-depth discussions with supervisor's foreign partner,whom is a top scholar in the world,further consolidate the theoretical basis of this article.Since 2010,we conduct the survey at Chinese International Industry Fair(Shanghai CIIF)for 7 consecutive years,get a lot of first-hand interview materials and nearly 200 copies of the questionnaires,which have become the important basis of empirical part of this dissertation.Nearly 2000 local cooperation patents which represent local industrial networks are collected through national patent database,and the data of innovation capability of more than 14000 Shanghai enterprise are generated by the investigation with relevant departments of science and technology.They provide a good condition for the use of large sample analysis and quantitative methodBasic on a systematic research review on the theories of innovation,knowledge flow,industry cluster and so on,this paper analyzes the role of international trade fair on innovation mechanism from three aspects including global scale,local scale and micro perspective.Specifically,(1)based on the theoretic analysis of global cluster network,illustrates the global innovation effect of international trade fair;(2)through statistical Hypothesis and Testing,observes the innovation affection in local networks of Chinese International Industry Fair,(3)by using Structural Equation Modeling method,and tests the learning and innovation path of enterprises in Chinese International Industry Fair.The main conclusions are as follows:First,international trade fair can promote innovation in the global scope.Based on the literature review,this paper demonstrates the global influence of the international trade fair from the perspective of global cluster network.First of all,industry knowledge,industry information within the international trade fair creates the main interaction and diffusion in different regions.Secondly,the knowledge base of enterprises is expanding as they participate in the changes of the exhibition area.Finally,from the perspective of the follow-up effect,the international trade fair to help enterprises to establish a new inter regional relations,consolidate and deepen the existing international cooperation.Second,international trade fair has a significant impact on local innovation.In this paper,through empirical research,from the three aspects of "innovation ability","internal cooperation density" and "the number of cooperative links",the innovation effect of Expo in the local network is verified.First of all,the local business Expo can attract high innovation ability;the good relationship provides a platform for the Expo,with more close cooperation between these enterprises;finally,the number of exhibitors in the local partnership is also relative to other enterprises more,it reflects the role of radiation in the local innovation activities in the expo.Third,enterprises can promote innovation through learning and communication in the trade fair.In this paper,through empirical research,the three aspects of "object action effect" are used to verify the innovation path of enterprises in the expo.Participating companies and customers and partners in the exhibition has a wealth of face-to-face conversation opportunities to help enterprises get the key knowledge needed for innovation.Exhibitors also use the abundant time during the exhibition,visit or observe the booth of their peers,to observe the latest technology development trends.The main innovation of this paper has the following two aspects:(1)International trade fair should be regarded as the central node to break the"local-Global" separation.For a long time,the debate of local and global economics geography,most of the existing studies only focus on the role of transnational corporations and other organizations can play a link between local and global.Since the beginning of this century,scholars have begun to pay attention to the fact that the international trade fair is no longer just a simple marketing platform.It is expected that this paper will be an important supplement to the international trade fairs and innovation theories.(2)The framework of understanding the innovation mechanism of the international trade fair is constructed.In order to analyze the mechanism of international industry trade fair on enterprise innovation,the literature review that the International Expo "is based on the local and global understanding of this",and constructs the framework of understanding and Analysis on its mechanism.The framework from the global scale and local scale and micro perspective of progressive layers,from the outside to the inside to explore the role of the international trade fair on innovation mechanism,and at each level in the sub sectors further demonstration or inspection.This framework is helpful to understand the specific mechanism of the innovation of the international trade fair,and to provide reliable evidence for its role.
