The highly developed equipment manufacturing industry is an important symbol of industrial upgrading and reflects China's status in the international division of labor in the process of economic globalization.The Party's Nineteenth Congress report for the first time required "to increase total factor productivity"and emphasize high quality growth.Increasing Total Factor Productivity(TFP)is the core source of economic improvement,efficiency,and sustainable growth.With the deepening of the concept of green development,the pace of industrial green transformation has been further accelerated,and higher requirements have been placed on the green development of the equipment manufacturing industry.Green Total Factor Productivity(GTFP)incorporates environmental effects into the analysis,which is a key indicator of the evolution of the industry from the perspective of sustainability and a key indicator of the intrinsic function of industrial evolution.The results of industrial evolution are often externally expressed in the scale and speed of evolution,while the internal performance is the quality of evolution,and evolution efficiency is an important indicator of quality.Although scholars began to shift from the scale dimension of industrial development to the quality dimension,the qualitative research was less considered in the study of the evolution efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry.Therefore,it is very necessary to measure the evolution efficiency of equipment manufacturing industry from the quality level and to analyze the mechanism of its evolution.Based on this,this paper adopts GTFP,which considers energy consumption and environmental pollution,as the core index of the evolution of measurement equipment manufacturing industry,and explores the industrial evolution efficiency from the perspective of sustainability.This paper use system framework built multiple heterogeneous(elements heterogeneity,structure heterogeneity and the environment heterogeneity),research on the equipment manufacturing industry GTFP(functional heterogeneity)evolution mechanism,the threshold effect and the influence of time-space effect,help for our country to implement equipment manufacturing powerhouse green development strategy to provide theoretical guidance and practical guide.In terms of theoretical research,we re-examine the internal logic of the evolution of multiple heterogeneity and micro-individuals(enterprises)and structures(products,industries)from a system perspective.Heterogeneity is a qualitative dimension.The process of industrial evolution requires attention to the interrelationship of multiple heterogeneities.It can be understood from the following aspects:(1)The industrial evolution results are often externally expressed in the scale and speed of evolution,while the internal performance is the quality of evolution.Among them,evolution efficiency is an important indicator of quality;(2)Evolution is affected by many factors.The quality of evolution is related to the quality of elements,structure,and environment.Therefore,the heterogeneity of industrial evolution is affected by the heterogeneity of factor heterogeneity,structural heterogeneity,functional heterogeneity,and environmental heterogeneity;(3)The industrial system has multi-dimensional(microscopic,meso,macroscopic)heterogeneous nested structural features.Each scale involves the heterogeneity of factors,structure,environment,and the heterogeneity of system functions;(4)The process of evolution trajectory and environment is complex,non-linear,uncertain in future evolution trajectory,and the evolution trajectory is not unique under the influence of different external environments.It is an important scientific issue to reveal the dynamic qualitative evolution trajectory.Based on theoretical analysis,five hypotheses are proposed:(1)The heterogeneity of factors(labour,capital,and knowledge)has a catalytic effect on the evolution of industrial GTFP.(2)Inhighly specialized equipment manufacturing,heterogeneity of factors contributes to the growth of industrial GTFP;in equipment manufacturing with low levels of specialization,the heterogeneity of factors does not have a significant effect on industrial GTFP.(3)Multiple Heterogeneity Impact Industry GTFP has a threshold effect.(4)Multiple heterogeneity affects the spatial effects of industrial GTFP.After taking into account the spatial effects of factor heterogeneity,it is more conducive to the growth of local industry GTFP.(5)The external environment with different quality has different effects onthe local industry GTFP.In empirical research,based on theoretical research,this paper takes the equipment manufacturing industry in China as an example,and analyzes it with the empirical thinking.Firstly,using the panel data of 29 provinces in China from 1990 to 2015 as observational samples,using the classic panel econometric model to analyze the multiple heterogeneity affecting the evolution of GTFP in equipment manufacturing,Secondly,the threshold effect of GTFP evolution in equipment manufacturing industry is further tested.The threshold effect of GTFP growth in manufacturing is examined;finally,taking into account the spatial dependence of different regions,spatial econometric models are used to empirically analyze the spatial effects of industry multiple heterogeneity on GTFP growth in equipment manufacturing.The results showed that:(1)The investment-driven GTFP in China's equipment manufacturing industry was overall low.(2)Under the assumption of linearity,the multiple heterogeneity of different industrial agglomeration levels,different regions,and different industries have different influences on the GTFP of China's equipment manufacturing industry.(3)Multiple heterogeneity has a threshold effect on the impact of GTFP in China's equipment manufacturing industry.(4)Multiple heterogeneity has a spatial effect on the impact of GTFP in China's equipment manufacturing industry.According to the theoretical and empirical research,aiming at the win-win goal of economic benefits and ecological benefits,we will increase investment in green innovation elements to promote low-carbon technological progress;vigorously develop environmental protection equipment manufacturing;improve government service capabilities and support capabilities;and improve environmental protection equipment manufacturing.The financial system of the industry improves the quality of capital;it selects innovative development paths and other countermeasures based on the constraints of GTFP in each sub-industry.
