Research On Influence Mechanism Of Relationship Quality On Enterprise Innovation Performance In R&D Outsourcing

With the rapid development of enterprise R&D externalization,R&D outsourcing as an open and dynamic technology innovation model has fundamentally changed its original closed R&D system.As a result,more and more domestic enterprises,especially knowledge-intensive enterprises,are more inclined to rely on R&D outsourcing to achieve technological development.However,R&D outsourcing has the characteristics of incomplete contract,non-exclusive knowledge and incomplete substitution of cumulative innovation.These characteristics will bring additional costs to enterprises,such as project replacement cost,information spillover cost and the cost of transformation and adaptation of knowledge and technology.In order to minimize the problem of information leakage caused by weak intellectual property protection,it is necessary to establish a series of governance mechanisms between the contracting enterprise and the R&D supplier.Relationship quality is a subtle governance mechanism that has received widespread attention from academia and business.The influence mechanism of relationship quality on the innovation performance of R&D outsourcing has become an important issue for enterprises to achieve innovation performance improvement through R&D outsourcing relationship management.Based on the existing research results at home and abroad,this article comprehensively uses structural equation modeling and multi-group structural equation model analysis methods to reveal the important influence of relationship quality on the enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.The influence mechanism of relationship quality on enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing is analyzed from three aspects: the pre-factor of relationship quality,mechanism of action and adjustment mechanism of influence of relationship quality on enterprise innovation performance.Based on the existing literature on R&D outsourcing,relationship quality,relationship quality and enterprise innovation performance,this paper define the key concepts and f dimensions of relationship quality,relationship-specific investment,service quality,dynamic capability,and enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.This paper puts forward the influence path of relationship quality on enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing and constructs a res earch framework on the impact mechanism of relationship quality on enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing,which provides a theoretical basis for analyzing the impact mechanism of relationship quality on enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.These provide a theoretical basis for analyzing the influence mechanism of relationship quality on the enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.This paper explores the pre-factor of relationship quality between companies and R&D suppliers in R&D outsourcing.Based on the relationship quality theory,this paper establish a relationship model between relationship-specific investment,service quality and relationship quality in R&D outsourcing,and construct a structural equation model of the pre-factors of relationship quality in R&D outsourcing.Empirical tests were conducted to examine the effects of physical type relationship specific investment,knowledge type relationship specific investment,reputation,technical ability and communication quality on relationship quality.The results show that the specific investment of physical relationship,the special investment of knowledge relationship,reputation,technical ability and communication quality positively relates to relationship quality,but the degree of influence of each variable on the relationship quality is different.Among them,technical ability has the greatest impact on the relationship quality,followed by knowledge-specific relationship-specific investment,and the impact of reputation is relatively insignificant.This paper explores the mechanism of the relationship quality on the enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.Based on the relationship quality theory and dynamic capability theory,we establish a relationship model between relationship quality,knowledge sharing,knowledge transfer,dynamic capability and innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.The structural equation model analysis method is used to verify the mechanism of the relationship quality on the enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.The results show that the dynamic ability of enterprises in R&D outsourcing has a significant positive effect on their innovation performance;The relationship quality has no significant direct effect on the enterprise innovation performance,but the relationship quality can promote the dynamic ability of enterprises by improving the degree of knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer,thus indirectly achieve the role of enterprise innovation performance.This paper explores the moderating effect mechanism of R&D outsourcing model in the relationship of between relationship quality and the enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.We use multi-group structural equation model to explore the moderating effect of R&D outsourcing model on relationship bewteen relationship quality on enterprise innovation performance based on the R&D outsourcing theory,relationship quality theory and dynamic capability theory,and combine with the empirical test results of the mechanism of the relationship quality on the enterprise innovation performance in R&D outsourcing.The results show that the positive relationship between relationship quality and enterprise innovation performance is much more distinct under different R&D outsourcing models.Under the innovative R&D outsourcing model,the relationship quality has a significant direct positive impact on the enterprise innovation performance.However,the direct promotion of relationship quality to enterprise innovation performance is not significant under the efficiency R&D outsourcing model.In the path of relationship quality indirectly affecting enterprise innovation performance,the impact of innovative R&D outsourcing model on enterprises is significantly higher than that of efficient R&D outsourcing model.
