Abstract/Summary:
Working within a positive psychology framework, this study explores the intersection between Curiosity, Personal Growth Initiative, and Life Satisfaction in community-dwelling older adults. A review of the existing literature in the areas of positive psychology and the older adult population is presented. The Curiosity and Exploration Inventory (CEI), Personal Growth Initiative Scale (PGIS), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) were administered to 50 older adults. Consistent with existing research, the results indicate that there is a significant positive correlation between Curiosity and Life Satisfaction, Personal Growth Initiative and Life Satisfaction, and Curiosity and Personal Growth Initiative. Among Curiosity and Personal Growth Initiative, the latter was found to be a stronger predictor of Life Satisfaction. Limitations of the current research are discussed as well as the implications for future research.
