The current qualitative case study explored the trade communication gap between leaders of the Caribbean and Common Markets (CARICOM) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the implications on economic high-level economic planning and policy decisions in the CARICOM region. Trade communication documents between 1997 and 2002 from representatives of Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica were analyzed for themes and phrases. Four trade policy review documents for the years of 2003, 2005, and 2009 were part of the analysis of the trade communication documents. Four themes emerged from the trade communication documents: trade, CARICOM, challenges, and relationship. Appropriate trade measures were important for leaders of CARICOM to address the challenges and improve the economic stability of the CARICOM region. |
