Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to determine if premarital counseling would enhance marital satisfaction, and set a foundation for couples to draw upon as their first line of defense when they begin to experience difficulty during the marriage. Thirty participants in this study voluntarily agreed to participate in this training program. The data were collected during the period of November 11, 2007 to July 20, 2008. The results of this study identified improved communication and overall higher scores on the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) and all its subscales. The results also acknowledged a need for further research with more variables such as religion, cultural background, socioeconomic status, employment, and me flta1 health history to help in determining the benefits of premarital counseling...
