| This study determined the most effective approaches for leading a rural school district toward school consolidation. Through the implementation of recommended strategies, this study provides an effective framework for preparing the district for consolidation of two rural elementary schools in a rural Western North Carolina. Research conducted and conclusions of this study in Macon County North Carolina will provide similar school districts and school leaders helpful strategies to effectively plan for school consolidation and to predict possible outcomes related to operational efficiency, academic programs, and community support. |
