The purpose of this narrative inquiry was to identify caring teacher behaviors perceived as life-impacting experiences. The narratives of seven adult participants were presented in this study. Within the findings regarding academic care, teaching practices which included critical thinking, hands-on problem solving, individual attention, authentic learning experiences, high academic expectations, and confidence emerged as common themes. The emergent themes concerning caring teacher interaction were respectful relationships, emotionally supportive relationships, motivation and academically supportive relationships, a fully present attitude, a caring attitude, and tutor help. Caring teacher practices that facilitated a caring school community included inviting parental involvement and a caring community. Teacher practices that addressed culturally responsive teaching included: culturally appropriate learning environments, knowing the heritage of students and understanding learning styles. The research presented may benefit teachers and education administrators as a guide for best caring teacher practices.
