Abstract/Summary:
This research looks into executive education and learning, as portrayed in interviews with 14 business leaders in Canada; and as provided by nine world-renowned universities that specialize in executive education; and as experienced by this researcher during a long career in business.;The theoretical framework that has inspired my point of view about learning is the educational philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead - philosopher, mathematician, and physicist. Chapter Three is devoted to an in-depth look at Dr. Whitehead's work in this respect.;This research should be of interest and of use for firms and universities wanting to consider or reconsider their plans for executive education and learning.;The methodology used is that of a collective case study featuring three separate categories as units of analysis: Namely, the 14 executive interviews, the nine universities and the personal experience. Executive interviews and university program descriptions are presented, appreciated and analyzed both as individual entities, and all together as two separate collectives.
