This survey design study aims to understand the connection between psychologists and lawyers career expectations while in graduate school and how those expectations correlate with later career experiences and career satisfaction. There are a total of 184 participants, 31 holding a doctoral degree in psychology, and 153 holding a JD or LLM in law. All participants have been in their chosen field for a minimum of 5 years. This study found that the degree to which expectations are fulfilled vary, but that fulfilled expectations do correlate with overall career satisfaction. In addition, the most variance in satisfaction is accounted for by a personal sense of satisfaction with one's work, financial reward and work variety. |
