The redox-rearrangement and molecular intercalation reactions of titanium and zirconium disulfide (TiS;It has been demonstrated using Ti;The results of thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and inelastic neutron scattering experiments lead to a simplified picture of alkaline earth-ammonia TMDICs. The metal cations are surrounded by a well-defined solvation shell consisting of 2 to 6 NH;In general, the onset time for intercalation of the liquid amines in the bulk pristine TiS;The extent of charge transfer can be understood qualitatively within the rigid-band model for all ammoniated TMDICs.
