Abstract/Summary:
This study examined specific administrative variances in Rorschach administration on formal scoring variables. Standard Exner Comprehensive System, administration was varied by card absence during the inquiry phase (consistent with the Rapaport-Schafer system) and the sequence of the free association---inquiry phases (consistent with the Rapaport-Schafer system).;Sixty-Three undergraduate subjects screened for low pathological symptom indexes with the Brief Symptom Inventory were divided in to four test condition groups. Four advanced graduate student examiners administered the Rorschach to one half of each test condition. Three groups were administered the Rorschach with variations based on elements of the Rapaport-Schafer system. The control group was administered the Rorschach in the Standard Exner Comprehensive System method. All protocols were scored according to the Exner Comprehensive System.;There was no support gained from the empirical data to support the hypotheses of differences in administration. Results support a homogeneity of administrative variance across test conditions suggesting that Rorschach administration may be of less influence on formal factors than the expected.;Examiner bias was found to be a significant factor in Rorschach administration. Further exploration is suggested as there are only two studies published discussing the same.
