Abstract/Summary:
Analyzing the impact of using musical approaches on academic achievements is a crucial element in current educational practice. The extent to which knowledge, skills, and transfer of learning from one subject to another are affected by music has not been determined. The main purpose of this case study was to analyze the impact that a musical storytime activity would have on emerging reading skills on special education preschool students. The researcher composed music in order to implement the singing of children's books. The findings indicated that music was especially useful in helping preschoolers with a communication impairment develop emerging reading skills. Results indicated that the new approach stimulated using language in a singing mode, rather than use the speaking voice.
