The effect of the Junior Faculty Development Program experience on tertiary Russian educational reform: A case study

This study focused on five Russian university faculty who participated in the U.S.-sponsored Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP). The purpose of this study was to determine if and how their exchange experience had subsequently affected their professional lives and their motivation to influence educational reform at their home university.;A qualitative research design, grounded in the naturalistic paradigm, was adopted for this study, and data were gathered through interviews with the participants and observation at the participants, home university in Russia.;Analysis of the data indicated the following: the JFDP experience affected the participants' attitudes toward educational reform at their home university; this period of transition presented significant challenges for Russian regional higher education; and the participants were motivated to identify and implement educational reform in their home university.
