Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of the study was to examine the direct relationship between scores on the Wonderlic Personnel Test (WPT) and voluntary/involuntary turnover, and moderator relationships among WPT-voluntary/involuntary correlations including job complexity, pay for performance, and relevant unemployment rate. The results indicated the merit of studying moderators of the relationship between cognitive ability test scores and turnover. Pay for performance moderated the correlation among WPT and voluntary/involuntary turnover, and job complexity moderated the correlation between WPT and involuntary turnover. The discussion focuses on issues related to studying turnover, and practical considerations with regard to using cognitive ability tests to predict turnover.
