Abstract/Summary:
This work comprises two parts. Part 1, focusing on K'un-shan County, is composed of three chapters, respectively dealing with the backgrounds of the study, the histories of local deities and the hierarchy of temple fairs. In Part 2, we try to achieve a full exploration of the temple fairs in late imperial China through different aspects--religious, social, economic, political and cultural. The dissertation is intended for better understanding of temple fairs as well as popular religion and cultural which were fully manifested in the fairs.
