The aim of this study is to explore the Biblical and practical processes of spiritual discernment in order to develop a model of corporate discernment for use by a congregational leadership team. Using action research with phenomenological elements, this qualitative research project utilized pre--test and post--test instruments, a focus group, and a prayer--log to generate data. This dissertation asserts that church leaders become more open to the Holy Spirit and seek to intentionally hear the Holy Spirit's directional voice as a group when they are trained to incorporate spiritual guidance as part of the normal congregational decision--making process. |
