Abstract/Summary:
This study examines information control and secrecy in a contemporary setting in which rule-breaking is understood to be an unavoidable requirement. Big-time college athletics provide the grounding for an examination of these topics. A pointed ethnography provides the background for a case study in secrecy. An analysis of in situ cultural practices, discourse in its broadest definition, is used to demonstrate substantive grounded theories of secrecy and information control.
