Abstract/Summary:
The purposes of this study were to (1) determine students' levels of satisfaction with selected institutional factors and levels of overall satisfaction with the institution and (2) identify relationships between satisfaction with institutional factors and overall satisfaction with the institution and selected student characteristics. Data were collected by means of the Student Satisfaction Survey, designed by the researcher, which has 57 satisfaction rating items, measured on a five-point Likert type scale, and requests information concerning 27 student characteristics.;The findings led to the conclusions that (1) the largest proportion of the students were at the medium or moderate level of satisfaction with the institutional factors and a medium or moderate level of overall satisfaction with the institution and that (2) satisfaction with the five institutional factors and overall satisfaction with the institution is related to different combinations of student characteristics. These relationships are satisfaction with (1) instruction as related to age and quarters completed; (2) facilities to race, credit hours enrolled, attendance shift, quarters completed, and educational division; (3) services to race, income, education level, reverse transfer status, quarters completed, and receipt of a Pell Grant; (4) atmosphere to age, race, educational level, attendance shift, and quarters completed; (5) policies to race, education level, reverse transfer status, quarters completed, and receipt of a Pell Grant; and (6) overall satisfaction with the institution as related to race, income, reverse transfer status, quarters completed, and receipt of a Pell Grant.;A stratified cluster sample of 645 students was drawn from a student population of 3,233 at the subject institution in December, 1982. With the exception of two programs, the sample included no less than 10 percent of the students enrolled in 26 educational programs and in each attendance shift (day, evening, and weekend). Primary statistical procedures used were chi-square analysis and a t-test for differences.
