The Impact of Servant Leadership on the Engagement of Adjunct Higher Education Online Faculty

Abstract/Summary:
This study examined the relationship between faculty leaders' demonstration of servant leadership behaviors and the engagement of higher education, adjunct faculty teaching online. Using a quantitative, correlational method, two survey instruments were administered to participants. The instruments measured participant perception of their leader's demonstration of servant leadership behaviors and their self-reported level of engagement in their online classes.;Demographic data for gender, age, primary teaching discipline, online teaching experience and characteristics of participant primary institution were incorporated into the data analysis. The findings showed a statistically significant relationship between faculty leaders' demonstration of the servant leadership behaviors of wisdom and altruistic calling and engagement of higher education, adjunct faculty teaching online.
