Abstract/Summary:
This study utilized job embeddedness as a construct to predict intention to stay among employees in the business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in India. A survey instrument was administered to business process outsourcing employees working in selected organizations in India. Two research questions were studied to address the research problem and purpose of the study. The first research question explained the correlation between six dimensions in Job Embeddedness and Intention to stay. The six dimensions had a positive correlation with intention to stay. Sacrifice-organization was the only dimension that held a strong correlation with intention to stay. The second research question ranked each dimension in order of its strength of correlation with intention to stay. The six dimensions were ranked in descending order of their rho values. The ranks were sacrifice-organization followed by sacrifice-community, fit-community, link-organization, link-community, and fit-organization. The research study had several limitations and several areas for further research were determined. The business process outsourcing industry in India is dynamic; therefore, studies in employee turnover will require depth and breadth of research.
