The surface morphology and chemical properties of the fabric are important factors that determine the color expression and pattern clarity of inkjet printing.Fabric modification treatment can reconstruct the surface structure and properties of the fabric, which is the key process to determine the quality of printing. Therefore, this paper selects a polymer nanomicrosphere with good thermal stability, and designs reactive dye inkjet printing and pigment inkjet printing methods based on nanomicrosphere cationization modification. The behaviors such as spreading, diffusion and penetration of ink droplets on different fabrics were analyzed. The imaging mechanism of high quality inkjet printing images was revealed, which was helpful to accelerate the industrial production application of inkjet printing technology. The main contents are as follows:(1)The cationic Poly[Styrene-Butyl acrylate-(P-vinylbenzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride)] P(St-BA-VBT)nanospheres were successfully synthesized by soap-free emulsion polymerization and applied to different fabrics inkjet printing. The effects of nanospheres concentration, steaming time and sodium bicarbonate on the inkjet printing were investigated, and the optimal inkjet printing conditions were determined. The results showed that the average particle size of the nanospheres was66 nm,and zeta potential was +57.8 m V,and the glass transition temperature was94.7 ?,indicating that nanospheres have better stability. The excellent color strength value, outline sharpness, fixation rates, rubbing fastness and washing fastness of plain, twill and honeycomb fabrics can be achieved when the nanosphere concentration, sodium bicarbonate, and steaming time were 1.0 g/L,10 g/L,and 6 min, respectively. The results of XPS and FTIR showed that the microspheres were successfully adsorbed on cotton fibers. The nanosphere modification process provides a new method for obtaining high quality inkjet print images without affecting the mechanical properties of the fabric. The use of urea is completely avoided, the inkjet printing cost and water pollution are reduced, and the environment is green.(2)Compared with control fabrics, there was a linear relationship between the increase in the effective porosity of the modified fabric and the zeta potential of the pigment particles. The stronger the negative charge of the pigment, the greater the increase in the effective porosity of the fabric, which indicated that the smaller the spread area.Compared with control fabrics, the color gamuts of pigment inkjet printed fabrics modified by cationic nanomicrosphere were increased. The reason for the increase in the color gamut was that the spread of pigment ink droplets on the modified fabric was small, the formed ink dots were small, and the degree of absorption of light was large during the inkjet printing process. The density curve data showed that when the color filling rate was less than 60%,the apparent color strength of the inkjet printed fabric was smaller than that of the unmodified fabric under the same ink supply condition. When the color filling rate was greater than 60%,the opposite was true, which was also caused by the size and distribution of ink dots on the fabric.(3)When printing a monochromatic patch with a color filling rate 20%,independently distributed ink dots can be obtained on the fabric.Due to the difference in the spreading speed of the ink droplets along the fiber length direction and the diameter direction, the ink dots on the inkjet printed fabric were elongated. After the nanosphere modification, the hydrophobicity of the fabric surface was increased, the spread of ink droplets and the size of ink dots can be controlled, which can significantly improve the fineness, vividness and overall color effect of inkjet printing. The spread of trace pigment ink droplets on the fabric was closely related to the color effect of inkjet printing. If the spread was small, the color effect was good. The greater the spread, the poorer the color effect.
