The Costume Changes Of Yue Opera Since 20th Century

Yue Opera was created in Shengxian County of Zhe Jiang Province,which is one important local type of drama in China.Yue Opera has gained popularity in1940 s and prevailed in 50 s.Owing to the exploring and revolution of Yue Opera's performers generation by generation,Yue Opera has formed its only stylized features of drama.At the same time,Yue Opera costume has developed from “little song class” period to current integrated clothing system along with the development of Yue Opera.We can see that Yue Opera costume has formed its own art images in time past.The object study of this paper mainly based on Yue Opera costume since the20 th century.According to clarify the history of “Small Size Class”,“Women Class” and “New Yue Opera” period from the found of state to present day detailly,we will analyze the design features,color patterns,fabrics and multiple design elements of Yue Opera Costume.What's more,we will compare Yue Opera costume with Peking Opera's,Kun Opera's and Shao Opera's costume,to study the designs,elaborated the unique aesthetic conception of Yue Opera costume.As a kind of costume of theatre,Yue Opera costume plays a significant role in the Yue Opera's performance.If we say the image of actors is the centre of artistic creation and stage aesthetics,then clothing can help to show the character's social status and personalities.Moreover,Yue Opera costume is not only like an assistant to build the image of character,but also a presentation of Chinese traditional culture.It is a representative of Wuyue culture and its folk art.‘All-embracing and bring fresh” is the insistent artistic feeling of Yue Opera costume designers.“Based on the folk and suit both refined and popular tastes” is the persistent artistic pursuit of Yue Opera costume designers.“Advance with the times and reform to innovate” is the inner spirit of Yue Opera costume designs.The purpose of discussing the artistic features and design experiences of Yue Opera costume,not only inherit its excellent traditional culture as well as promote its better development.In order to help this opera keeps pace with this times,we has collated reform of Yue Opera costume by means of this thesis and generalized the style of Yue Opera costume.We hope this thesis could be assisted to current Yue Opera costume designs,wishing we can have effort to organize the related information on Yue Opera costume.
