Objective: Using novel retinal oxygenation technology,to investigate changes of retinal oxygen metabolism during the development of excess heat syndrome;To reveal factors associated with retinal oxygen saturation in normal population;To investigate the relation of retinal oxygen saturation to damage of retinal structure in common eye diseases.Methods:1.32 rabbits and 12 pigs were enrolled in part I.They were randomly divided into two groups respectively.One group received the modeling of the heat syndrome,which was established in rabbits and pigs by injection of endotoxic.The other group were injected 2mL of saline solution as the blank control.Experimental assessment were performed.Oxygen saturation was measured in retinal blood vessels in these animals using the retinal oximeter.2.210 healthy Chinese volunteers underwent ophthalmic examinations.Retinal oxygen saturation was examined by a noninvasive retinal oximeter.3.This part focus on human retinal vessel oxygen saturation in(1)central retinal vein occlusion,(2)branch retinal vein occlusion,(3)uveits,(4)retinitis pigmentosa,(5)pathological myopia.Retinal oxygen saturation was measured with novel retinal oximetry technology.Analyzing the pictures according to the protocol,then calculating the retinal oxygen saturations of both arteries and veins.Comparing the differences of retinal oxygen saturation between patients with the ocular disease and healthy population.Results:1.Both on rabbit and pig,the retinal artery oxygen saturation in the syndrome of heat model were higher than normal group,which was significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The retinal average venous oxygen saturations in the syndrome of heat animal model were higher than normal group,which was significant difference statistically(P<0.05).2.In normal population,the mean retinal arterial oxygen saturation was(97.06±5.24)%;the mean retinal venous oxygen saturation was(62.39±5.45)%,the mean arteriovenous differences was(34.68±5.20)%.The mean arteriolar saturation(101.64±6.97%),mean venous saturation(66.55±5.64%)were significantly higher in the superior nasal quadrant.3.(1)Central retinal vein occlusion In patients with central retinal vein occlusion,the retinal arteriolar saturation was higher than the healthy people,which was significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The retinal each quadrant artery oxygen saturations were higher than the healthy people,however,only the superior temporal,inferior nasal and inferior temporal are significant difference statistically(P<0.05).While the mean venous saturation was lower than the healthy people,which is significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The retinal each quadrant venous oxygen saturations were lower than the healthy people,which are significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The mean arteriovenous differences was higher than the healthy people.The mean arteriolar and venous diameter wasn't significant difference statistically,compared with the healthy people(P>0.05).(2)Branch retinal vein occlusion In patients with branch retinal vein occlusion,the retinal arteriolar saturation was higher than the healthy people,which was significant difference statistically(P <0.05).While the mean arteriovenous differences was higher than the healthy people,which is significant difference statistically(P <0.05).The retinal average venous oxygen saturations were lower than the healthy people,but the difference isn't statistical significance(P >0.05).The difference between affected venous and unaffected venous in affected eye didn't show statistical significance(P> 0.05).(3)In patients with uveitis,the mean venous saturation was lower than the healthy people,which was significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The retinal each quadrant venous oxygen saturations were lower than the healthy people,however,only the superior temporal and inferior temporal were significant difference statistically(P <0.05).The mean arteriovenous differences was higher than the healthypeople,but the difference wasn't statistical significance(P>0.05).The retinal arteriolar saturation wasn't significant difference statistically,compared with the healthy people(P>0.05).(4)In patients with retinitis pigmentosa,there exists markedly differences in arteriolar saturation and venous saturation between different diseases duration in RP group.The retinal arteriolar and venous saturation wasn't significant difference statistically,compared with the healthy people(P>0.05).But the arteriolar oxygen saturations in superior nasal quadrant were lower than the healthy people,which were significant difference statistically(P <0.05).The arteriolar oxygen saturations in inferior nasal quadrant were lower than the healthy people,which were significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The mean arteriovenous differences wasn't statistical significance(P >0.05).The arteriolar diameter were lower than the healthy people,which were significant difference statistically(P <0.05).The venous diameter were lower than the healthy people,which were significant difference statistically(P<0.05).(5)In patients with pathological myopia,the mean arteriolar saturation was lower than the healthy people,which is significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The arteriolar oxygen saturations in inferior temporal quadrant were lower than the healthy people,which were significant difference statistically(P <0.05).The retinal venous saturation wasn't significant difference statistically,compared with the healthy people(P >0.05).The mean arteriovenous differences wasn't significant difference statistically,compared with the healthy people(P>0.05).The mean arteriolar diameter was lower than the healthy people,which is significant difference statistically(P<0.05).The mean venous diameter wasn't significant difference statistically,compared with the healthy people(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The retinal average arteriolar and venous oxygen saturations in the syndrome of heat model in rabbits and pigs increased in part I.2.In part II,the mean arteriovenous differences was related with sex.The retinal saturation was higher in arteriovenous differences in male than female.There weredifferences among different quadrants,indicating that the distribution of oxygen in retina was unfair.3.In part III,the results indicated that retinal vessel oxygen saturation is(1)lower in retinal venules and increased in retinal arterioles by central retinal vein occlusions,(2)lower in venules and increased in retinal arterioles by branch retinal vein occlusion,(3)no changes in retinal arterioles and venules by retinitis pigmentosa,(4)lower in retinal venules by uveitis,(5)lower in retinal arterioles by high myopia.The vessel diameter was(1)lower in retinal venules and arterioles by retinitis pigmentosa,(2)lower in retinal arterioles by pathological myopia.
