Different types of ancient Chinese building are characteristic and colorful in the horizontal point of view, and are continuously developing in a vertical perspective, eventually forming the Chinese architecture system with unique style. The culture of ancient Chinese building is a rich heritage of Chinese, including three different levels of harmony:the harmony between man and nature, harmony among humans, and harmony between man's mind and physical body. Research on the core concepts of ancient Chinese architecture will make a great contribution to the developing, inheriting and protecting the ancient Chinese architecture's culture and provide a kind of model for the modern architecture.Compared to modern architecture, ancient Chinese architecture follows a principle of balancing the relationship between the architecture and environment, architecture and man, architecture and society in the aspect of location, layout, structure and shape. While the modern buildings have many problems such as ecological-imbalance, environmental pollution, waste of resources, geological-hazards, we should take the reasonable parts of ancient Chinese architecture, accept the good and reject the bad to make the past serve the present. With the help of modern high-tech techniques, we re-examine the good ideas of ancient architecture in dealing with the relationship between human and nature, human and human, and the body and mind of human, especially the simple ideas of ecological architecture and human consciousness and the concept of harmony in it, then promote, improve and develop modern architectural culture, support and form a healthy and scientific field of modern architecture culture.This research follows the main line of exploring the rich concepts of harmony in ancient Chinese architecture, beginning with combing the traditional Chinese culture and architectural culture which affects the architectural practice, then discusses the original thought which forms the traditional Chinese architectural culture of "harmony" in many aspects such as the historical context it formed, the geographical environment it rooted and the social structure it relied.Firstly it describes the Taoist theory of the harmonious relationship between man and nature in different architectural elements of the embodiment of the phase from the location, layout, and other textures. Secondly, the paper describes the system harmonious relationship among people impacted by the Confucianism, from the capital, the palace of the royal supremacy of the political ethics, residential blood family ethics, etiquette building multi-ethnic and religious ethics Levels of discourse, ordered the building from the hierarchy based on this concept of ethics to the people on the basis of a harmonious relationship with the ethics of the feudal hierarchical social function of the building, lastly, the paper describes the meaning of Buddhism in China under the influence of the harmonious relationship between people's own reflection in the Buddhist architecture from the temples, pagodas, grottoes of different shapes in the analysis after the introduction of Buddhism in the construction of the resulting fusion of sublimation Good idea, discussed the building as the habitat of the human soul, self-cultivation, and seek body and soul, heart and body, spirit and matter, ideal and the reality of a balance to achieve harmony of man's own ideal. Finally, the paper discusses the difference of harmony embodied in the architecture from three aspects of harmony and put emphasis on the characteristic of Chinese harmony in architecture.This essay holds the view that the research, discussion and reference of ancient Chinese architecture's harmony conception have great significance to the establishment of a modern architecture system and have great significance to the sustainable development of modern society, modern culture and modern architecture.
