The Formation of Hua Yan School's Buddhist TheoryHua yan School is one of the main Chinese Buddhist Schools, its theory produces a significant influence on Chinese Thoughts. And there are few researches on the theoretical formation process of Hua Yan School, especially on the aspects of Di Lun Shi Shuo (the school which was founded according to the Dashabhumika-sutra-shastra,????), She Lun Shi Shuo (the school which was founded according to the Mahayana-samparigraha-shastra,????)and the Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana's(???????)influence to it. So my dissertation tries to research this process of the thought.Zhi Yan, Fa Zang's teacher, mainly on the basis of Di Lun Shi Shuo, She Lun Shi Shuo, the Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana and the other Buddhist sutras and abhidharmas, elucidated the Avatamsaka Sutra(?????) creatively, and put forward Hua Yan School's main teachings and the theory of Pan Jiao initially. Fa Zang was stimulated by the Wei Shi School, which was the prosperous school at that time. And Fa Zang systemized Zhi Yan's theory furtherly, by this way, he set up the great theoretical system which is centered of the Fa Jie Yuan Qi(????)The Di Lun Shi Shuo's influence on Hua Yan School is mainly of the Southern sect of Di Lun Shi Shuo, these thoughts are mainly the Buddhata originally existing(????)and the thought of Dependent origination based on the clean mind nature(????)The Southern sect of Di Lun Shi Shuo was the theoretical basis of Hua Yan School, its Fa Jie Yuan Qi was originated in Southern sect of Di Lun Shi's later representative—Hui Yuan's theory and developed his theory. The northern sect of Di Lun Shi Shuo was absorbed by She Lun Shi Shuo, and their influence on Hua Yan School was mainly on the theory of Mind Only(??)and by Clean Mind Nature, how could dirty dharma be arrived. In this aspect, Zhi Yan and Fa Zang was also affected by the Wei Shi School(???)The basic thought of "Yi Xin Kai Er Men"(?????)of the Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana was directly manifested in the structure of Zhi Yan's Fa Jie Yuan Qi. Then, Fa Zang attached more importance to the Jing Xin Yuan Qi(????)of the Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana. His inexhaustible and perfect harmonious Fa Jie Yuan Qi and Xing Qi Yuan Qi(????),based on the Hai Yin San Mei (????) in Avatamsaka Sutra. By this way, he surpassed all the theories of Pratitya-sanmtpada before him, and at the same time, he also developed Zhi Yan's theory of Fa Jie Yuan Qi. Fa Zang's Fa Jie Yuan Qi is the core part of Hua Yan's theory, its appearance was the symbol of the formation of Hua Yan School's theory.In Chapter 1, I discussed the background, the content of Avatamsaka Sutra, and its influence on Hua Yan School, and based on scholars'related researches, I discussed and judged the genealogical system of Hua Yan School and judged the sequence of Zhi Yan and Fa Zang's works. In Chapter 2, based on few extant works, I discussed the divergence of the southern and the northern Di Lun Shi Shuo, mainly was the problem of Buddhata is present existence or exists in the future, by this way I emphasize the Present existent Buddhata(????)of the southern Di Lun Shi Shuo. And then I discussed Di Lun Shi Shuo's influence on Zhi Yan, and by the medium of his teacher, Fa Zang accepted the basic thought of the southern Di Lun Shi Shuo. In Chapter 3, She Lun Shi Shuo affected Zhi Yan and Fa Zang on the theory of Mind Only, I discussed in the Eight vijnana(??),Trilakshana and the Three kinds of unreality(?????)and Ten kinds of Mind Only(“????”)etc. Besides the influence of the Old School of Mind Only(????),Fa Zang's thought of Trilakshana was directle affected by Wei Shi School. By the research in this chapter, we find close relation of the Mind Only to Hua Yan School. In Chapter 4, after briefly discussed the influence of the Awakening of Faith in the Mahdyana to Zhi Yan, I mainly studied the change of the attitude of the Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana of Fa Zang. In his early times, he tried to built his system of referred to Wei Shi School, and after did thoroughly research on the Avatamsaka Sutra, he understood the incompatibility between Wei Shi School and Hua Yan School, so by his works,such as Qi Xin Lun Yi Ji and other works in his later periods, he returned the theoretical base of the Southern sect of Di Lun Shi Shuo. In addition, my dissertation also did some critique on the inner difficulty of the theory of Hua Yan School.In Chapter 5, the core part of the theory of Hua Yan School is the thought of Fa Jie Yuan Qi or Xing Qi Yuan Qi. Based on the thought of Zhi Yan, according to Hai Yin San Mei in the Avatamsaka Sutra, Fa Zang concretely explicated the inexhaustible and perfect harmonious unique feature of Fa Jie Yuan Qi.
