Ethnic groups experienced direct social formation transition is a collective concept produced under certain historical conditions.These ethnic groups share common characteristics including:having experienced unique social formation transition,enjoying series of exclusive preferable development policies,less population,long-lasting productive force backwardness,maintaining cultural elements of primitive ethnic groups,being located at either remote inland or frontier territories.As a result,they become a special existence different from other ethnic groups in China.In regards to ethnic cultural industry studies,modern construction of ethnic cultures is one of its important contents.Therefore,to conduct studies on modern construction of cultures of these special ethnic groups which experienced direct social formation transition is not only necessary but also helpful to enrich studies on these special ethnic groups so as to have an overall understanding on them and their societies.In addition,it will contribute to our better understanding of cultural elements of these groups so as to unearth their potential cultural capital value on one hand,as well as to explore possible development paths of their cultural industry to ensure sustainable of their economy and society on the other.This dissertation is written on a case study basis.With outcomes from field work and archives studies on a Bulang village--Manya,this dissertation is written applying theories of structural functionalism,field theory and culture change theory from an atypical pattern building and process combining symbol perspective.Firstly,it tries to display Bulang culture changes chronically and the primordial and adoptive nature of their culture from different aspects including traditional livelihood models,social structure,religious belief,customs,and education models.Secondly,it reviews the culture reconstruction of Bulang People in ways of partially decomposition and exploitation after the direct social formation transition.Lastly,it tries to analyze the following issues in Bulang culture construction after the reform and opening up,including reconstruction of social structure,cultural consciousness under economic development,ethnic cultural reconstruction under two-way education module,impact of modern technology on traditional ethnic culture,influence of ethnic elites on cultural reconstruction and status and development of Bulang Tanchang singing,the cultural name card of Bulang People.By doing this,the dissertation tries to give an actual reflection on modern construction of Bulang culture in the aspects of ethnic cultural elements as cultural symbols as well as cultural lives as cultural process.It aims at displaying a model of ethnic cultural construction among ethnic groups experienced direct social formation transition as well as offering a veritable case study.The dissertation displays the point of view that culture of ethnic groups experienced direct transition is experiencing a continuous change and reconstruction process.This process contains countless adaptation,inheritance,reconstruction and abandon of their traditional ethnic cultural elements and the course of these follows roughly the same process,namely,from adaptation to disappear and then reconstruction.In the process of modernization,if the reconstruction which fits its cultural tradition could be carried on,and meanwhile rational instructions be given to those reconstruction so as to give play to its potential late-mover advantage,the culture of ethnic groups experienced direct transition would be carried on undoubtedly.It will be reconstructed continuously as a positive form of cultural changes.By building a unique culture that is harmony in diversity,the culture of Bulang People will stay in harmony with other ethnic cultures in China to maintain sustainable development of the integrated but diversified cultures of Chinese nationalities.
