Value And Situation:A Study Of Zhouyi's Personality Aesthetics

There are profound personality aesthetics thoughts with "Junzi"(??)as the core in but for a long time,the academic circles have not explored it comprehensively from the standpoint of personality aesthetics.On the other hand,the study of personality aesthetics also needs to draw lessons from the concept of"situation" embodied in the changes of "Shi"(?)and "Wei"(?)in Zhouyi,so that it can have a solid foundation for practice.Based on this investigation,this paper attempts to systematically construct the personality aesthetics of Zhouyi from the two most important dimensions of human life:"value" and"situation".The main body of the paper consists of four chapters.Firstly,the ontological basis of "personality aesthetics" is discussed.The ontology of personality in Zhouyi is a value ontology based on the principle of"Shengsheng"(??).This paper proves this idea by examining some key concepts in Zhouyi,such as "Di"(?),"Tian"(?),"Tao"(?),"Yin and Yang"(??),"Heaven and Earth(Qian? and Kun?).It also presents the way to realize the"Tao of Shengsheng"(????).Secondly,it is devoted to exploring the value of life in Zhouyi."Happiness" and"virtue" are the two basic value dimensions of human life.The main purpose of Zhouyi is to "pursue good luck and avoid bad luck"(????),which emphasizes"happiness",but also stresses the premise of "virtue".The main purpose of Yizhuan(??)is to "explore human's truth and nature"(????),which emphasizes"virtue",but it does not deny the acquisition of "happiness".The exact matching of the two is the highest value ideal,which is reflected in the beautiful vision of"everything in the world treat their nature and destiny correctly in order to preserve the highest harmony"(????,????).Thirdly,it discusses the theory of personality type in Zhouyi.Personality types are shaped by people's value choices and practices.The measure of personality level mainly depends on the dominant position of "virtue"or "happiness"in the process of life practice."Villains"(??)mainly choose"happiness",and may even harm"virtue" in order to get "happiness";"Junzi"(Xianren ??,Renren ??,Youren ??)mainly choose "virtue",but they do not completely exclude "happiness";"Shengren"??(Daren ??)can not only make themselves,but also make the whole world match "virtue and happiness" exactly."Shengren" does not exist in the real world,they can only be named as the highest ideal of personality by the judge of future generations;only "Junzi" personality has realistic possibility,and is also the focus of attention of"the Way to Establish People"(????)in Zhouyi.In the last chapter,we discuss the generative theory of the beauty of personality centered on " Junzi" in Zhouyi.The generation of the personality beauty of a Junzi depends directly on the choice of value and its practice.The choice of value is closely related to the psychological function of the subject,especially with"Zhi"(?)and"Qing"(?).The inner life state of a Junzi is determined by the height of "Zhi" and the joy of "Qing".This inner life state is bound to appear outside.When faced with specific situations,a gentleman takes the value of virtue as the leading factor.Through the dynamic practice of "Shixing"(??)and "Shizhi"(??),he takes" Shizhong"(??)as the criterion and finally forms a high degree of conformity with the great virtue of heaven and earth,and achieves the state of bright both inside and outside.This is the ultimate beauty of a Junzi's personality.
