After 1937,the Japanese colonists' ambitions were expanding, the colonial rule of the northeast was more brutal, the domination of the ideology and culture was intensified, the control of the press and publishing industry was tightened, and the whole period of the puppet was confronted with the situation of “publishing difficult and less magazine”.Founded in 1941 by Manchukuo Magazine,“Qilin”,with rich content, diverse forms, complete distribution, widespread dissemination, and proximity to the masses, won the market quickly and became the first issue of “East Asia” with 100,000 readers, and a popular magazine of mass culture in Manchukuo. The magazine publishes a large number of popular and entertaining popular works. It intends to be alienated from politics and the current situation. It aims at running people's “own” magazine;it also serves as a propaganda sing for the puppet government, and serves for the Japanese and puppet authorities, fulfilling the mission as a magazine of state policy. This complex ideology,is a feature shared by magazines that can continue to be published during the late period of the Manchukuo. It is also a survival strategy of the magazine. It is not suitable to judge by simple non-dualistic theories. It is necessary to combine specific texts to analyze its explicit and implicit expressions, which is also an objective attitude held in this thesis. It strives to be fair and presents the original culture of the magazine.Based on the visits and investigations and data collection, this study systematically sums up and summarizes the textual documents by quantifying and fine-graining.It examines the special survival background of the magazines and the characteristics of mass culture, thus revealing the living state and spiritual world of magazine editors, writers and common people in the colonial context. The main body of this article is divided into five parts. In the introduction, the current status of “Qilin” research was introduced.According to the characteristics of the magazine itself,we decided to study from the perspective of popular culture and define the colonial context and the mass culture and characteristics of “Qilin” to ensure the rationality of thesis writing. The first chapter specifically describes the special colonial survival field of “Qilin” magazine. It discusses politics, education, and culture.Japan's cruel political rule, enslaving educational thoughts, and dictatorial cultural policies have forced journals to favor only the popular. The literary, entertaining, entertaining, and historical works of art that evade the reality and paint white peace.Such popular literary works can be accepted by the ruler, are conducive to the stability of the civil society, and the rule of the puppet Manchu. In this sense, the popular cultural phenomenon of “Qilin” is not difficult to understand. The second chapter first examines the peripheral ecology of the literary media of the Manchu Period through diachronic examination.Under the shortage of materials, insufficient funds, and special culture, the magazines in the late Manchukuo period had to pursue new survival road, but must choose to go to the road of mass culture, and then through the magazine published ideas, reader positioning, the market's commercial operation and other detailed fine-grained,synchronic analysis,in order to establish the “Qilin” magazine popular culture strategic positioning. The third chapter explains the mass culture construction of “Qilin” from the stylistic form of the magazine text. This chapter is based on the harsh cultural supervision system during the period of Manchukuo and the fact that Chinese publications are less likely to satisfy the readers' reading needs. It is the lack of cultural markets that has promoted popular interest reading materials in the interest of content strategies that are unconscious toward popular novels, cultural talk,Folk songs, drumming words, and other colorful mass forms,“Qilin” presents a popular culture of “comfort people” for publication purposes. The fourth chapter focuses on the issue of the construction of the popular culture form of Kirin magazine from the inner text. From the perspectives of urban culture, female culture, and pop culture, this article analyzes the popular features of urban space symbols, the current status of women's survival, the recreational pastime of texts, the popular orientation of detective suspense, and analyzes the internal changes of magazine texts: The trend of modern, urban, consumer, and fashionable is a trend;the combination of new and old, traditional and modern, rural and urban integration is also a trend, and the two are difficult to divide, twisting and moving forward..As a result,Kirin conducts its construction of popular culture through the dual exploration and practice of form and content. The fifth chapter is the foothold of the thesis and explores the significance of the cultural landscape presented by popular culture magazine “Qilin”.This study believes that the publication and distribution of magazines reflects the complex role of ideological propaganda and mass culture construction, and objectively summarizes the slavish discourse of the pro-Japanese,and the implicit expression of anti-aggression.Even the negative energy in the construction of popular culture of magazines should be traced back to the specific space-time and context, recognizing the meaning of its existence and examining its positive and negative energy from several angles. The conclusion summarizes the full text, briefly expounds the significance of the study of Qilin magazine, and explains the limitations of this study and the possible space for further study.
