The Dartmouth Conference in 1956 marked the birth of artificial intelligence,which was always accompanied by arguments and doubts.Artificial intelligence has indeed made breakthrough achievements in the field of learning and recognition,but it also faces thorny problems,such as the complex semantic problem caused by the emergence of machine translation.In recent years,the development of Internet technology and the wide application of big data cloud computing have enriched the possibility of intelligent algorithms,and the research of artificial intelligence has become the highlight.Semantic problem is the first problem to be solved among the difficulties faced by artificial intelligence.The bottleneck in the development of artificial intelligence in the last century shows that semantic problem is the core reason that restricts the exertion of artificial intelligence.Intelligent machine can't realize semantic content,and simple syntactic operation is only the solution at the data level,which doesn't involve understanding.Semantic realization of artificial intelligence machine translation is a difficult problem that must be solved in the technical field,and semantic issues have become the focus of endless debate in the field of philosophy.This paper attempts to clarify the related concepts and contents of semantic problems in the process of exploring the development of artificial intelligence.On the basis of exploring the importance and necessity of studying semantic problems of artificial intelligence,it combs the logic of semantic problems and tries to give solutions.There are five parts in this paper:Firstly,the introduction mainly introduces the background and research content of the paper based on the research reason of artificial intelligence semantic problems;At the same time,it further combs the current situation of artificial intelligence and its related research at home and abroad,as well as the research ideas and innovations of the paper.Secondly,the second part introduces artificial intelligence and its related theoretical background,and introduces the theoretical background of artificial intelligence and semantic problems from three aspects: the historical origin of intelligence concept,the research approach of artificial intelligence and the clarification of semantic problems of artificial intelligence.Firstly,according to the clue of time,this paper discusses the emergence,development and realization of intelligent concept from three levels: ancient Greek philosophy,modern philosophy and modern computer.The research approach of artificial intelligence mainly takes three research programs of artificial intelligence as clues,and explores the internal logic of the research development approach of artificial intelligence by comparing the three different research programs of symbolism,connectionism and behaviorism.Finally,it is the key part of the thesis,which discusses and clarifies the semantic problems of artificial intelligence.Then the third part discusses the semantic exploration in the field of artificial intelligence.Firstly,the problem of intelligent judgment based on language is discussed.Then,taking the development of natural language processing as a clue,the emergence and development of machine translation are combed and the linguistic content of Chomsky syntactic analysis is emphatically introduced.By tracing the development process of natural language processing and discussing the difficulties encountered by machine translation,this paper clarifies the two turns of language processing experience: from natural language processing to formal language analysis,and then from formal language analysis to semantic realization.Finally,it shows the data solutions to semantic problems in the field of artificial intelligence.Compared with the third part,the fourth part discusses the debate on the semantic issues of artificial intelligence in philosophical circles.Firstly,philosophy criticizes semantic program,and then philosophically reflects on machine translation.The emergence and bottleneck of machine translation have a great impact on semantic issues.Finally,focusing on Searle's Chinese House experiment as the background,this paper analyzes the debate on semantic issues in philosophical circles.Data or understanding?This is the biggest difference between artificial intelligence field and philosophy field on semantic issues.Limited by different academic backgrounds and research ideas,the prospect of solving semantic problems seems unclear.The fifth part is semantic problems and artificial intelligence system model.This is the solution to the semantic problem of artificial intelligence given in this paper: to set up the view of system intelligence,and to solve the problem of artificial intelligence from the viewpoint of overall model,combined with the thinking of cognitive science such as neuroscience and thinking science.The last part is the conclusion.Semantic problem of artificial intelligence is a difficult problem that must be solved in the development of artificial intelligence.Different views on semantic issues of artificial intelligence in philosophy and computer circles originate from different perspectives caused by different academic traditions.We need philosophy to build a strategic perspective on intelligence and semantic issues,and we also need the down-to-earth progress of artificial intelligence technology in the scientific field.Philosophical doubts about the semantic problems of artificial intelligence may be solved by the development of artificial intelligence itself in the near future;Or perhaps philosophy will have new insights on semantic issues in the future.In any case,semantic problem is not only an objective challenge for the breakthrough of artificial intelligence,but also an inexhaustible motive force for the development of language philosophy.
