A Report On Translation Of The Excerpts From Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning Fundamentals

Since the reform and opening up,China's economy and society have developed rapidly,and people are always exposed to a variety of different scientific and technological products in their daily life,which requires a large number of scientific and technological texts,and the society has an increasing demand for high-level translation talents in the field of science and technology.When translating scientific and technological texts,translators should understand the creation background and professional knowledge of the scientific and technological texts in advance,and make good use of their accumulated translation knowledge.In this translation task,the author selected part of the English version from Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Fundamentals as the translation text for translation.The work was published on December 12,2018 by Packt Press,which is one of the fastest-growing and product-rich publishers of technical books in the world.The excerpts mainly introduce Python(a computer programming language),the use of artificial intelligence search algorithms,artificial intelligence techniques and concepts,and learn the actual data sets used to form decision tree diagrams and clusters.The report provides a brief overview of the background,purpose,significance,guiding theory,text content,and translation process of this translation task.This text is a scientific text,and the main purpose of translating such text is to accurately convey the information.The case study focuses on the author's flexible translation strategies in vocabulary,sentence and discourse cohesion under the guidance of functional equivalence theory.Flexible use of various translation strategies in terms of professional terms,common vocabulary,sentences and discourse cohesion.Specifically,the augmented translation method is used to explain professional terms,the augmented translation method and the modified translation method are used to translate sentences,so as to make the language expression more fluent,and the translation strategy of explanatory pronouns is used to make the translation logical at the textual level.Finally,the author summarizes the translation task and analyzes the shortcomings in order to improve author's translation practice.Through this translation practice,the author understood and learned the principles of artificial intelligence and machine learning fundamentals.And it can enrich the domestic information in computer science,provide information for people in need,and also provide references for the translation of such texts.
