‘Landscape’ is a vocabulary given by human beings.There is no landscape originally,the landscape is a projection in human eyes.There has always been a rich and subtle relationship between humans and landscape.However,human beings are social,human beings have transformed the landscape,and the landscape has also influenced human beings.The concept of landscape also has social attributes at the same time.Along with the changes in the social environment and the development of network images,nowadays,landscape is increasingly presented as a ‘social landscape’,and contemporary landscape painting is no longer just an isolated process of people viewing nature,expressing scenery and feeling for the scenery.‘Social Landscape’ seeks to explore the relationship between the new landscapes that have emerged in Chinese and Western societies since the second half of the 20 th century,along with globalised scientific and technological development and diverse urbanisation,and contemporary landscape painting.Such new landscapes include urban landscapes,historical ruins,natural environments,and online digital image landscapes.So what kind of changes have taken place in the form of landscape painting in the contemporary social landscape? In the era of global network informatization,digital imaging and artificial intelligence,and in the contemporary context of diversified and cross-media artistic expression,what kind of changes have taken place in contemporary landscape painting? This paper discusses contemporary landscape painting in three major directions: metaphors and symbols in contemporary landscape painting,the relationship between real social landscape and painting,and landscape painting in the new network image era,focusing on the relationship between contemporary landscape painting and history,politics,society,individual memory,environment,nature,images,and technology,and discovering the hidden ‘codes’ in contemporary landscape painting.Contemporary landscape painting,as an individual artist’s artistic expression,reflects strong sociality and individual experience under the influence of politics,history,and the environment.It is a combination of individual spirit and social landscape,not an objective expression of the real landscape in the sense of appearance.It is the result of the projection of human spirit and conceptual thinking on the real social landscape.Contemporary artists continue to explore and practice on the basis of traditional painting language expression,deeply and extensively integrate with social history and culture,daily life environment,emerging media images and network technology,and combine individual thinking and experimentation to open up a greater perspective,which makes contemporary landscape painting present a brand-new appearance in terms of both ideology and formal language. |
