The Study On The History And Culture Of Chen Shuoqian's Family

This thesis takes the Chen Shuoqian family of Neipu in Pingtung,Taiwan,as the subject,conducts field investigations and interviews,and traces the small area up to the big time and space,how the Chen family from Neipu to Zhutian came to Taiwan as the core.The Chen family history can go back to Guangdong,Fujian,and Jiangxi in China Mainland.This study also puts forward a new argument on the culture value of the Chen Shuoqian family in Taiwan.In order to explore the development of family tree ancestors,this thesis proposes an innovative theory of family studies-the "Flying-geese-alike Root Theory" to explain the name,birth and death years,official career and the reasons for immigration to Taiwan of the ancestor Chen Shuoqian in Taiwan.It also explores multi-faceted aspects over the influences of the literary creation and social economy to his family descendants.The aspects of this study includes the analysis of the words used in family temple names and poetries,ancestral plaques,and literary works of their descendants;it also includes serval aspects about the exploration of the spirit of righteous of Chen family,and ow the ancestor-worship and family asset management organization("Gongchang","Tastehui")works for family members.Based on the analysis of this research,it confirms that the both sides of the Taiwan Strait are closely related by blood,and indeed cannot be separated,and demonstrates the great significance of family research on future generations.This thesis also points out four aspects for future researches as follows.First,respect the ancestors and respect the ancestors,spread the ancestral virtues,how to make the family organization feel warm and love to the people of the tribe.Second,see the past and learn from the present,be grateful and cherish the blessing.Third,The sustainability of the ancestor-worship and family asset management organization.Fourth,the collection of available family mottos which deserve to pass on to descendants and the establishment of these motto database.All these aspects are extremely challenging for future family research,and deserve continuous attention.
