While the achievements of blue-green landscape paintings in the Ming Dynasty have reached a new peak after Song Dynasty,Lan Ying's blue-green landscape paintings are even more unique in the late Ming Dynasty.People only know that Lan Ying is famous for his style of north-south compatible painting, but they ignore that he is also outstanding in the use of color.Lan Ying's color selection in the blue-geen landscape paintings breaks through the constraints of classical stylization, emphasizing and demonstrating his own understanding of colors. This is also the result of Lan Ying's learning of painting in his early years from Dong Qichang in Songjiang and being influenced by his "heart" painting.Lan Ying tries the fusion of color and ink to present an artistic visual feast of "the mountains and forests surrounded by the mists after the rain in autumn",or practices the transformation of color and ink in the form of boneless landscape. From the current perspective, these are bold innovations. He paints the desired boneless landscape paintings by selecting the colors with "heart",which promotes the development of boneless landscape paintings of the late Ming Dynasty from Dong Qichang to another climax. The dispute between schools is fierce in Ming and Qing Dynasties.Lan Ying,as a professional painter with a literati character, had been stigmatized by nosy parkers. The history of painting either deliberately avoided him,or completely denied him. However,Lan Ying's contribution to blue-green landscape painting of Ming Dynasty is significant and will undoubtedly be rediscovered by civilians. His advance demands on color will also be re-accepted by the history of painting. When a storm goes, there comes calm.
