Study On The Consistency Between Human And Social Development

The history of the development of human society is just the one that humanbeings explore their own development consciously or unconsciously. Marxestablished the materialist conception of history and the theory of surplus value.When he found such laws of social development, he also reasonably interpreted therelationship between human beings and society. In Marx's view, the consistencybetween human and social development, both of which are each other'premise,means and ends mutually and even are relatively independent, has been processinghistorically based on human beings'labor. The more people explore the socialrelation, the further they learn about the human nature. The consistency of humanand social development is realized in practice, which is the scientific conclusion byMarx from his study on the relationship of the two aspects. This paper, keeping afoothold on Marx'basic theory of such consistency, discusses the underlying causesof the inconsistency of human and social development in the capitalist socialformation, as well as some conditions and means within the cradle of capitalism bywhich the two aspects trend to converge, and then analyses the successes and failureson the issue of human development in the capitalist society. The theory should beclosely linked to the realistic task and historical mission of socialism, so as toexplore the combination point between theory and reality through practice.Responding to the current problem of human and social development in China, topromote social development and human development constituting an organic unityand promote each other.Marx held“realistic human”as the basic starting point for all his theoreticalstudies, scientifically revealed the essence of human being from the realisticrelationships among human beings, focusing on human beings'survival anddeveloping.As an ideal of value, human development, in pursuit of the realization ofhuman being's own nature, intends to“take true possession of human nature byhuman and for human,”and helps human beings to be“free”and“comprehensive”and“harmonious”. According to Marx, human development falls into a formation ofhistorical process, in which human development, from one-sided to full, from abnormal to complete, from poor to rich, from potential to realistic full development,is reflected by the perfect and harmonious unity between human beings and thenature, the society, or their own. It is internally unified between human developmentand social development. Human society is the basis for human beings'existence anddevelopment, while human beings are the subject of social development, and theirphysical practice forms the power source of social development. Labor createdhuman beings and the human society itself further. So, considering the social essenceof human beings, the history of social development is no more than the one thathuman beings develop their nature power from individuals to the whole; theexpanded form of social development in the time series is the same as the constantdevelopment of human beings based on the creative labor. That's to say, human andsocial development fall in the same historical process, and the process of history andthe course of human development are consistent. Only through the way of practicecould an ideal existence of human beings be adjusted and generated more closely inline with human nature, in order to pursue the most perfect harmony and consistencyof human and social development.Marx fully affirmed that the capitalist production mode played the great rolefor human development. It was in the sense of laying the foundation and preparingfor the future newer and more advanced social system that Marx critically affirmedthe capitalist system through the conditions and means within the cradle ofcapitalism.However, the capitalist society resulted in the alienation of human beingsfrom their own, from their kind and from the nature. Starting from the point ofanalyzing the inconsistencies between the capitalist social development and humandevelopment, Marx intended to overthrow the private ownership relations ofproduction, as well as the old division of social labor determined by that. And then,proposed the idea of future society from the critique to the capitalism reality.In termsof its inherent logic of development, socialism can provide better material, spiritualand political conditions, which will effectively promote the freedom of people to ahigher level overall. With the difference from Marx's ideal designs, the socialistsociety in reality did not emerge through the fully developed capitalist countries, butwas born in a number of countries with relatively backward economic and culture, which makes the socialist ideals of value based on the real social situations createdby the current productive forces. There is no agreement between the practical resultsof the socialism and the socialist value goals of human development, showing offthat the human development has been alienated and set aside. About the developmentof socialist society and human development in 21st century, the major problemswould be to view human development from the perspective of history, to make a newexploration for the socialist development path. As the largest socialist country in theworld, China has had a timely innovation in the socialist mode of development whenfacing the traditional socialist crisis. This paper inquires what practical approachesand basic measures should be chosen in the construction of a harmonious socialistsociety, which would advance applying the theory of consistency in practice activity.The consistency between human development and social development is a trendfor the mankind's development, is a process that will never end and will notfreeze-frame at some point without more development and perfection. In theprogress from the current to the future, the free full harmonious development ofhuman beings is right the highest level of the full harmonious development ofsociety---“unity of free men”, the harmony and consistency between the free fulldevelopment of human beings and the development of society. Each person lies intheir own unity and receives their own freedom through that, eventually to becometheir own masters united with society.
