The gap in education directly affects the accumulation and development of individual human capital in the future. With the high-quality and balanced development of compulsory education in China,nine-year compulsory education is very popular. However, the study found that the academic education gap between urban and rural students still exists, especially between poor rural students and urban students. The reasons for this gap are complex, and one of them that is easily overlooked may be the lack of after-school tutoring and counseling for rural students. In poor rural areas, afterschool learning is obviously lacking, and school teachers, parents and business tutoring institutions rarely have the opportunity to provide corresponding guidance and help for rural students. At the same time, with the implementation of "high-level,high-quality popularization of nine-year compulsory education",rural schools have better hardware facilities similar to urban schools, such as computer rooms, computers, etc. It is worth exploring how to give full play to the role of existing computer rooms, improve utilization efficiency, and promote rural students' academic performance by means of information technology.Computer Assisted Learning,CAL is a way that combines information technology with education and can influence students' learning.Computer-assisted learning,by integrating the teaching materials in conventional teaching into interesting and vivid interfaces and games,is believed to be promising to enrich the learning process, improve students' attention, and thus improve the learning effect, cultivate long-term learning interest and positive and optimistic learning attitude.International studies have shown that computer-assisted learning in developed countries and some developing countries can help students with poor academic performance catch up and make up the academic gap.Under the background of China's educational development, computerassisted learning may be a simple and easy way to provide after-school tutoring for rural students with backward academic achievements, and it is also a feasible way to explore how to use modern information technology to promote the development of rural education, with feasibility of implementation and great potential for policy promotion.Based on a number of random intervention experiments, this paper explores whether computer-assisted learning is beneficial to promote the academic performance of students in rural areas in China, whether it also affects other non-academic performances besides academic performance, such as learning interest and self-efficacy,and what is the possible influencing mechanism,so as to provide policy suggestions for narrowing the educational gap and promoting the development of human capital. In order to achieve the above research objectives, the specific research contents are as follows:(1)Describe the current situation of teachers' use of information technology in rural schools. It mainly includes the utilization of teaching facilities, computers, teachers and information technology.(2)Analyze the effect of the stand-alone computer-aided learning program on the academic performance of students in rural areas.(3)Analyze the influence of online computer-assisted learning program on rural students' academic performance and non-academic performance, and try to explore the advantages and possible influence mechanism of online computer-assisted learning on the basis of comparison with stand-alone computer-assisted learning.(4)Based on the development of the stand-alone version and online computer-aided learning project, the cost-benefit of the two is calculated and compared, which provides a reliable basis for policy advocacy. The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)School computer equipment in rural areas is well equipped, but its utilization rate is low,and there is still room for improvement.(2)The stand-alone computer-aided learning program has a significant positive effect on improving students' mathematics and Chinese scores in rural areas.(3)Online computer-assisted learning has a better effect than stand-alone computer-assisted learning, which significantly improves the academic performance of rural students in mathematics and English, and is also conducive to improving students' non-academic performance, such as learning interest,self-efficacy,love for the subject, educational expectations,etc.(4)The online computer-aided learning program has a good costbenefit ratio, and has the potential for large-scale promotion and policy implementation.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward some policy suggestions:(1)On the level of education investment and use,on the basis of existing hardware facilities, improve the use efficiency and effect.(2)Cultivate rural teachers' information literacy and improve their information concepts and awareness.(3)Encourage multiparty participation, increase the research, development and exploration of similar computer-aided learning software, and promote the comprehensive integration of information technology and education under the background of educational informationization 2.0.Encourage education departments, educational and scientific research units and social forces to cooperate in depth and develop computer-aided learning software suitable for rural students.Make full use of existing resources, provide hardware and software support for students' academic situation and problems in rural areas, and create foundation and conditions for promoting students' academic performance and all-round development.(4)Encourage the practice of the integration of information technology and teaching activities, increase the attention of rural schools and teachers, carry out online computer-aided learning activities in counties, towns and rural areas, and explore the beneficial forms of information technology to promote the development and all-round growth of students' human capital.Based on the random intervention experiment of computer-aided learning project in rural areas, the empirical evidence shows that the project model is of great significance to the cultivation of students' human capital in rural areas, which is helpful to explore the close combination of information technology and education, form a targeted rural education informationization landing scheme, improve learning effect, optimize education balance and promote China's progress from a big educational country to a powerful educational country.
