A Study Of Quality Management In Student Affairs In Chinese Universities And Colleges

Student affairs in universities and colleges covers all aspects of students' study and life in and out of campus,and has become an important part of talent cultivation and education management.The quality of student affairs is not only related with its scientific development,but also related with vocational and professional development of students' counselors.It plays an important part in the quality of talent cultivation and the quality of ideological and political work in universities.This essay places the quality of student affairs into the field of management studies,and applies the theories and methods of quality management into improving the quality of student affairs in creative ways.This essay focuses on analyzing basic problems of quality management of student affairs in universities and colleges based on research of historical development of student affairs in the last hundred years.In the meantime,the essay implements empirical research in 12 representative universities and colleges in Shanghai with several aspects including students,counselors,management levels,in order to analyze problems and challenges when conducting the practice of quality management of student affairs,and the influential elements as well.On this basis,the research takes a broad view to the world for useful experience and reference,focusing on the practical experience of American and British universities in the quality management of student affairs,and summarizing the useful theories and practices combined with the case analysis.Finally,in view of the practical problems of the quality management of student affairs,this essay studies how to construct the system framework and practice path in quality management of student affairs in China.As a lead-in part of this essay,the first chapter Introduction explains the significance and background of this research,and illustrates the main concept,the researching design and methods through this essay,as well as the innovation and deficiency.The first chapter also demonstrates and discusses the existing research conclusions at home and abroad.The main body of this essays includes the second,third,fourth,fifth and sixth chapters,which mainly focus on theoretical study and practical analysis of quality management of student affairs.The second chapter overview of quality management of student affairs traces back to the historical development of student affairs in China,elaborates the theoretical basis,related subjects and different views about the quality management of student affairs.The third chapter empirical research focuses on the current situation of the practice in quality management of student affairs,by selecting 12 different types of colleges and universities in Shanghai,and from the dimensions of counselors,students,government and leaders in colleges and universities to carry out empirical research and analysis on the current situation in quality management of student affairs,especially the problems and challenges.The fourth and fifth chapters comparative research respectively take the practice status in quality management of student affairs in the United States and the United Kingdom as the research theme,and conduct a comparative study with practical cases.The sixth chapter system and methods in quality management of student affairs focuses on the construction of the system framework and practice path of the quality management of student affairs,including the quality management system and professional standard system,and puts forward effective practical tools.The conclusion part of Chapter 7 summarizes the research conclusions,innovation,deficiencies and future prospects of the essay.
