Review Of The Academic Achievements Of Zhao Dexin In Economical History

Prof,Zhao Dexin is the first generation of scholars in Economic History since 1949 who has made great achievements——Seven monographs,one symposium,3 coauthors and 224 papers have been published since 1956 when he got the master degree.After his retirement in 1998,Prof.Zhao still focus on scholarly research.He has completed or is undertaking 5 national projects,5 provincial projects and 3 self-appointed projects.Among his completed projects,there are four projects including 15.16 million words as the editor-in-chief,one co-authored project of 0.3 million words and five single-authored projects with a total of 2.84 million words.He is the pioneer and founder of the Economical History discipline of the People's Republic of China,and creates "Chinese economic development".He is praised by fellow scholars as "a generalist in economic history".Prof.Zhao pays much attention to the teaching and has written five Economic History curriculums.What's more,he sets up the course——the modern economic history of the People's Republic of China in domestic for the first time.Prof.Zhao engaged in Economic History over 60 years,aimed to complete his targets——To answer what Economic History is and how China's economy developde.Even though retired in 1998,he has not retired from academic research at all.This thesis starts with the construction and development of the Economic History subject,selects his academic achievements as objects of study.Following his path of Economic History research,the thesis respectively discusses his contribution to Economic History in ancient China,China modern economic history and modern China economic history and overview of China's economic history.This thesis includes five aspects from the structure arrangement:The first part is an introduction,mainly discusses the research purpose and significance of this paper;makes a review on the academic characteristics,research results of Prof.Zhao Dexin;explains the research ideas and methods.The second part is the first chapter.It focuses on the definition of Economic History structure by Prof.Zhao Dexin.This is the analytical framework for this article.The third part is the second to the forth chapter.According to the research of Prof.Zhao,it discusses his contribution to Economic History research.Prof.Zhao's contribution to the history of ancient Chinese economy can be answered in two aspects:the research on the historical facts of ancient China and the research on the theory of ancient Chinese economic history.The contribution to the historical facts of ancient China is firstly the historical process of the commodity economy.Secondly,he has carried out a comprehensive study on various currencies of Chu from a broader perspective,and solved many puzzles in the history of ancient Chinese currency.His contribution to the research of ancient Chinese economic history theory:has theoretically explained the social nature of the two Han dynasty from the angle of economic structure evolution;has explained the change of Chinese ancient social form in a new way based on the Marxist theory about social form evolution and put forward the theory of "five main economic form".Prof.Zhao" s contribution to Chinese modern economic history is as follows.First,two historical documents have been published:The Complete Set of Zhang Zhidong and Compilation of Financial data of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.Second,two monographs have been written:the course of Chinese modem economic history and the modern economic history of China 1842—1991.Third,he has analyzed the evolution process of Chinese moden economic form,and summarized the historical laws of Chinese modern history development.Fourthly,he has studied the economic activities of different groups on the Chinese modern development,and emphasized the role of human in history.His contribution to the theoretical research of Chinese modern economic history is:he has redefined the time span of Chinese modern economic history research,which is from end of the opium war in 1842 to 1949,and has put Chinese modern economic history and Chinese contemporary economic history together considering economic history since 1842 as a whole;has put forward the theory of "two levels of economic modernization" and defineed the connotation of economic modernization clearly.Prof.Zhao's contribution to the economical history of the People's Republic of China:he has made more than three data sets which are the New China's economic Literature Index(1949-1949),the Law of the People's Republic of China on Economic Project Timeline and the Law of the People's Republic of China on economic projects;he has hosted the project of the economic history of the People's Republic of China and edited Economic History of the People's Republic of China"which comprehensively reflected the economic operation of the People's Republic of China.In the aspect of theoretical research of economic history of the People's Republic of China,he has put forward the following four theoretical perspectives:first,Chinese economy has intrinsic foundation and the power.The basic trend is the realization of developing,rising and modernization,with the development of both marketization and industrialization.Second,the best economic form for Chinese economic modernization is the new democratic economic form--the primary stage of socialism.Thirdly,the multi-dimensional complementary economy is suitable for Chinese conditions and does good to economic development.Fourthly,Chinese economic development has presented an obvious "Zhi" road during the past 50 years.In order to guide the economic history research of the People's Republic of China,he has made a series of theoretical explanations:first,the object of history research is the People's Republic of China;he has put forward theoretical explanation for the economic history of the People's Republic of China;thirdly,theoretical research has been carried out by methodology guiding the study of economic history of the People's Republic of China.His "connection" in the study of Chinese economic history,its purpose is for the development of China's economic history discipline "foreign theory and the history of China" dilemma,use the theory to explain China's history of China.In particular,his contribution in the "general" basically has the following five:first,to the evolution of China's foreign relations and its impact on China's economic development process has carried on the overall investigation,and theoretical explanation.Secondly,the paper analyzes the mode of economic growth im China's history,came to the "historical formation,natural resource endowment is different,different social economic system,change the way of China's economic growth will certainly take a different from other countries" theory.Thirdly,put forward the"theory of ShangXingGuo xing,through the inspection of Commodity Exchange in China's history and historical trend in the evolution of the business and economic level of different periods in the history of Chinese history,the business and the relationship between the national economic level theory to explain in detail.Fourthly,studied the relationship in the history of the Chinese market,analyzes the history of development of Chinese market economy,and whether the today's market economy is the economic operation of more than 4000 years of history.Fifthly,studies the relationship between uptown and the city of Chinese history,found that Chinese historical city and the city is,the evolution law of no city city-a city without a city-the city is a city urban city-city is larger than the city,city in the city.With Chinese history uptown,laws of evolution of the evolution of the relationship with the Chinese market,further emphasized the market economy is the inevitable history development,China's development of market economy in accordance with its historical laws.Prof.Zhao's contribution to the introduction of economic history:first,economic history has been defined as a complete and independent discipline,and it has been put into practice in research and teaching.Economic history is composed of two branches:economic history and economic history conspectus.Economic history includes economic history and economic history theory.Economic history mainly narrates and analyzes the process of economic development.The theory of economic history abstracts economic theory on the basis of economic development.An introduction to economic history researches object,function,theory and method of economic history.It answers what kind of discipline it is and how to research it.At present,the development of Chinese economic history has entered a bottleneck period,which mainly lies in the deficiency of basic theoretical research.The purpose of studying economic history conspectus is to answer what economic history is and how to study it.Therefore,the study of economic history conspectus belongs to the field of basic theory of economic history.He has successively researched the object,the development,the function,research procedure,standard and methods of economic history and the relationship between economic history and other disciplines,systematically answering "what is economic history" and "how to study economic history".The fifth part is chapter 7,which is the conclusion of this thesis.It reviews the academic research and teaching practice of Prof.Zhao Dexin in the field of economic history,and summarizes the historical process of his construction in economic history.In general,his contribution to the discipline construction of economic history can be summarized as the following three points:firstly,he has provided a large number of research achievements for the study of economic history.Secondly,a series of data sets,reference books and teaching materials has been edited and published for the development of economic history.Thirdly,he has cultivated many research and teaching staff of economic history,infusing "fresh blood" for the development of economic history discipline.
