| The spread of the Internet has led to the emergence of e-commerce industry.China’s and even the world’s e-commerce industry is in a high-speed development stage, with huge development potential. The development of e-commerce industry has injected new energy into foreign trade. And also,it has led various changes in industrial structure optimization, industrial resource allocation, industrial layout and so on.At present,e-commerce industry has become a new engine of national economic development. In September 2013,Chinese President put forward a cooperation proposal to build the New Silk Road Economic Belt and 21 st Century Maritime Silk Road, also known as the "One Belt and One Road" strategic initiative. The initiative has an important impact on the current pattern of foreign trade in China. It breaks the shackles of the original trade pattern and integrates the countries, cities and regions along the belt.It is an international joint strategic conception of trade.Considering the difference in economic development level, culture, regions and other factors, this dissertation selects the inter provincial regions along the "one belt and one road" strategy as research objects. They are six northwest provinces: Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,Shanxi,Gansu,Ningxia Autonomous Region,Qinghai and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region;three northeastern provinces: Heilongjiang,Jilin,Liaoning;four southwestern provinces and cities: Guangxi Autonomous Region,Yunnan,Tibet Autonomous Region,Chongqing;five eastern provinces and cities:Shanghai,Fujian,Guangdong,Zhejiang, and Hainan. This dissertation studies the relationship between e-commerce development and foreign trade of eighteen key provinces and regions along the line of "one belt and one road" initiative.First step, using the TOPSIS expansion model, this dissertation calculates the e-commerce development index of the key provinces and regions along the line of "one belt and one road" initiative to measure the development level. The relative closeness of the original TOPSIS model only judges the approximation of the positive and negative ideal solutions from the distance, while the grey correlation degree reflects the similarity between sequences from shape aspect. In this dissertation, the original TOPSIS model is extended by introducing grey relational degree calculation method to make the calculation results more reasonable.According to the result of calculation, the five eastern provinces are among the top in the index of electric commerce development except Hainan province, where thedevelopment of e-commerce is relatively underdeveloped. The level of e-commerce industry development of the three northeastern provinces is in the middle of 18 provinces.Among the four provinces in southwest China,Chongqing,as a municipality directly under the Central Government, ranks sixth in the development index of e-commerce industry, while Tibet Autonomous Region ranks last in the development index of e-commerce industry in 18 provinces.Six provinces in Northwest China have lower regional economic development than other regions, and their e-commerce development index ranks last among 18 provinces.According to the calculation results of the e-commerce industry development level, this dissertation further explores the internal relationship between the development of e-commerce industry and the development of foreign trade. The results show that the development level of e-commerce industry can promote the overall scale of foreign trade exports of corresponding provincial regions, and also can optimize their foreign trade structure. However,to some extent,it aggravates the unbalanced development of foreign trade in some provinces and regions. This dissertation also chooses some other factors that affect the scale and structure of foreign trade. In addition to the development of e-commerce,the empirical results of these factors are different due to the differences of economic, cultural and policy environments in different provinces. The results are as follows:The results of the research on the development level of e-commerce industry and the scale of foreign trade show that,as the most developed region of e-commerce industry in China, the development of e-commerce industry in the five eastern provinces can slightly increase the scale of foreign trade exports.Because of the export substitution effect, there is a negative correlation between FDI and exports in the five eastern provinces. The proportion of urban population is positively correlated with the total export scale of foreign trade, which reflects the concentration of export industries in labor-intensive industries.Compared with other inter-provincial regions, the eastern five provinces have the greatest role in promoting the overall scale of foreign trade exports, and the conversion efficiency of R&D investment is the highest. The development level of e-commerce industry in the three northeastern provinces is in the middle, and the development of E-commerce industry in all provinces has the highest promotion efficiency on the total scale of foreign trade exports. The proportion of urban population and R&D investment also have a positive impact on the export scale of foreign trade. The level of development of electricity commerce inthe four provinces of Southwest China is relatively uneven, and the development of e-commerce industry can still promote the overall scale of its foreign trade exports. The GDP and R& D investment are positively correlated with the total export scale of the four provinces in southwest China.Although the development of e-commerce in the six northwest provinces is positively related to the total scale of its foreign trade exports, its promotion efficiency is lower than other provincial regions.Foreign direct investment also has a slight positive impact on the total scale of foreign trade exports. To a certain extent, foreign direct investment can expand the exports of the six northwest provinces. The increase of R&D investment and labor productivity has no significant effect on the export of foreign trade in the six northwest provinces. The results of the research on the level of e-commerce development and the structure of foreign trade show that the level of e-commerce development in the five eastern provinces is positively correlated with the total export volume of high-tech products in foreign trade. The development of e-commerce industry can help optimize the structure of foreign trade in the eastern provinces of China. At the same time,FDI and R&D investment can also promote the optimization of foreign trade structure. The industrial productivity of the three northeastern provinces is outstanding, but the development of high-tech industries is relatively weak. The development of e-commerce,FDI and R&D investment will play a positive role in promoting the export of high-tech products in the three northeastern provinces. The development of e-commerce industry, foreign direct investment, proportion of urban population and R&D investment in the four provinces of Southwest China will optimize their foreign trade structure to a certain extent and promote the export of high-tech products. The enhancement of human capital in the four provinces of Southwest China can better promote the optimization of trade structure than in other regions. The development of e-commerce industry in six northwest provinces can greatly promote the optimization of its foreign trade structure. It also has a positive impact on FDI,R&D investment and the total export scale of high-tech products in foreign trade.Developing e-commerce,increasing R&D investment in high-tech products and introducing more technical personnel can help the six provinces in Northwest China to optimize their foreign trade structure more efficiently. At the last part, based on the empirical results, this dissertation puts forward some policy recommendations:firstly,to enhance the awareness of the development of electricity business to optimize the scale and structure of regional foreign trade;secondly,to stimulate the development of electric commerce according to the export trade tendency of each province;thirdly,to further promote the implementation of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative and consolidate relationship with trade alliance of strategic countries so that we can better cope with trade protectionism. |
