In recent years,academic circles have set off a research upsurge of calling.Calling is a strong passion for a profession and a strong sense of meaning and responsibility.Calling has many positive effects,such as improving the internal driving force of job,promoting higher job engagement,higher job satisfaction and more innovative behaviors.The current researches are mainly based on the Western culture,and there is little research on calling of a professional group under the Chinese background,especially the lack of research on calling of skilled talents.Skilled talents are a special professional group in China,with about 200 million people.They are important forces to promote the development of Chinese advanced productive forces and all-round social progress.In April 2021,Xi Jinping pointed out that it is necessary to train more high-quality technical and skilled personnel,skilled craftsmen,great craftsmen,and take the road of becoming a powerful skilled country.In the new era of advocating innovation,development needs innovation,the replacement old growth drivers with new ones and high-quality development also urgently need creative skilled talents.At present,the job satisfaction,enthusiasm and initiative of skilled talents have been generally low,and their creativities are generally lacking.This not only affects the stability of skilled talents,but also limits the role of skilled talents.Calling is an important factor affecting individual job satisfaction,work enthusiasm and initiative.Particularly,calling could also promote creativity.Therefore,cultivating calling of skilled talents and stimulating skilled talents to break through the limitations and to innovate will be of great significance to the high-quality development of Chinese economy and society.Therefore,in the new era,this study focuses on the group of skilled talents,and makes an in-depth study on the structural connotation,dimension and measurement of their calling,as well as the mechanism of calling of skilled talents on their creativity,so as to provide a theoretical basis for improving calling and creativity of skilled talents.The main research contents including:1.Based on psychological ownership theory and resource conservation theory,this dissertation studies the structure model and measurement method of calling of skilled talents.Considering the situation of China,and using exploratory factor analysis,this dissertation constructs a five-dimensional conceptual model of calling of skilled talents in the new era.That is,“orientation”,“career persistence”,“altruistic contribution”,“excelsior” and “meaning and value”,and developed the corresponding calling scale.2.To test whether there are significant differences in calling of skilled talents in terms of age,educational background,working years and job categories.Based on the research on the structure of calling of skilled talents,through independent sample T-test and ANOVA test,it is verified that there are significant differences in the calling of skilled talents in the new era in terms of age,educational background,working years and job categories.3.Exploring the calling of skilled talents and its direct impact on creativity.By the questionnaire survey and hierarchical regression analysis on the front-line skilled talents in railway and other enterprises,we found that the calling of skilled talents and its dimensions have a significant positive impact on creativity.That is,the higher the level of the five dimensions of skilled talents' calling and its orientation,altruistic contribution,professional persistence,excelsior,meaning and value,the higher their creativity.4.Research on the mechanism of calling of skilled talents on their creativity.According to the analysis of psychological ownership theory and resource conservation theory,psychological ownership is selected as the mediator variable and person-organization fit as the moderator variable.Using the methods of multiple linear regression analysis and bootstrap,this dissertation tests the relationship between calling,psychological ownership,person-organization fit and creativity.It reveals the “black box” of the influence mechanism of skilled talents' calling on creativity in Chinese new era.The results show that person-organization fit positively regulates the impact of calling on creativity.That is,the higher the person-organization fit of skilled talents,the stronger the impact of calling on creativity.Psychological ownership plays an intermediary role between calling and creativity.Person-organization fit also positively regulates the mediating role of psychological ownership,that is,the higher the person-organization fit,the stronger the mediating role of psychological ownership,and vice versa.The innovation of this study mainly contains the following four aspects:1.This dissertation constructs and verifies the structure model of calling of skilled talents in Chinese new era,adds two dimensions of excellence and professional persistence based on existing literature,and puts forward measurement methods,which enriches the localization theoretical research of calling.This dissertation analyzes the connotation of skilled talents,the evolution trend of work characteristics and calling.According to the theory of psychological ownership and resource conservation,the scale of calling of skilled talents is developed by integrating the qualitative research results and the existing maturity scales abroad,and the unique characteristics of calling of skilled talents are described in detail.2.It reveals the direct impact of skilled talents' calling on creativity in Chinese new era,makes up for the research gap on the relationship between calling and creativity,and widens the research field of calling.This dissertation links calling with the creativity of skilled talents,which helps enterprises to look at the improvement of the creativity of skilled talents from a new theoretical perspective.The current research has widely discussed the positive effects of calling,mainly in the aspects of individual cognition and attitude,but it does not pay enough attention to individual workplace behavior.Moreover,the current researches are aimed at the group of skilled talents.We expand creativity into the outcome variable of calling of skilled talents.3.This dissertation develops a model of the impact of skilled talents' calling on creativity in Chinese new era,reveals the mechanism between skilled talents' calling and creativity,and makes up for the shortcomings of existing research.The study introduces psychological ownership as a mediator variable to explore the mechanism of activating employees' creativity with calling as an inducing factor.In addition,the moderator variable person-organization fit also reflects the cognitive overlap between individuals and organizations.Few previous studies have paid attention to the relationship between calling and person-organization fit.This study takes person-organization fit as the boundary condition for the role of calling,which can effectively promote the research of calling.4.This dissertation expands the research scope of psychological ownership theory and resource conservation theory.We construct a mediator model,exploring the psychological mechanism of the positive impact of skilled talents' sense of calling on individual creativity,and finding the boundary conditions for the role of calling.The theoretical significance of this study is that in Chinese new era,it examines calling of skilled talents,which is an important and special group,and makes up for the research gap.This dissertation studies the impact of local skilled talents' calling on skilled talents' creativity,reveals the relationship between calling and creativity,and enriches the theory of calling and related research fields.The practical significance is that the research conclusion will help cultivate calling of skilled talents.At the same time,it provides effective measures for the management practice of improving the creativity of skilled talents.It provides a certain theoretical basis for the formulation of management countermeasures for skilled talents.
