Study On Soundscape Scenic Spots In West Lake Of Hangzhou

Soundscape scenic spots(temporally named in this thesis),one sort of unique scenic spots formed by Chinese traditional culture,are featured with sound beauty as the theme,and they have high proportion in the art of scenic title series in China.In the history of the West Lake of Hangzhou,many soundscape scenic spots covering the main categories of Chinese tradition have been formed.Autumn Tidal Bore of Zhejiang River and Wind through the Pines of Jiulisong(from Ten Poetically Named Scenic Places of Qiantang),Wind through the Pines of Fengling(from Eighteen Poetically Named Scenic Places of West Lake),Evening Bell Ringing at Nanping Hill(from Ten Poetically Named Scenic Places of West Lake)manifest the special natural and cultural features,and carry the unique space-time context of Hangzhou.Research on the development of these soundscape scenic spots can help better understand the rise and fall of Hangzhou,and it can also exert positive influence on important soundscape themes like roaring rivers,wind through the pines and the bell ringing in China.The thesis is based on multi-disciplinary(Landscape Architecture,Historical Geography)and multi-field(Chinese classical soundscape,scenic spot,World Heritage,Hangzhou Study,Xihu Study,Qiantang River Study,art of scenic titles,etc.)research vision.It starts from the overall changes of West Lake of Hangzhou and generalizes the total context of the soundscape scenic spots.This thesis chooses Autumn Tidal Bore of Zhejiang River,Wind through the pines of Jiulisong and Wind through the Pines of Fengling,Evening Bell Ringing at Nanping Hill as typical cases to make thorough analyses.The main research contents include four aspects:1.General introduction of the soundscape scenic spots of West Lake of HangzhouBased on the macro-perspective of the overall evolution of social-ecosystem,the thesis investigates the development and evolution of West Lake and its soundscape scenic spots.Consulted on Mr.Zhang Qiyun’s classification of the development processes of West Lake of Hangzhou,this thesis summarizes the changes and characteristics of the soundscape scenic spots of West Lake in different historical stages.By sorting out all kinds of soundcape scenic spots in the famous art of scenic titles of West Lake of Hangzhou,the above typical cases are further optimized for deeper exploration.2.Study of the typical soundscape scenic spots in West Lake of HangzhouBy analyzing the Anutumn Tidal Bore of Zhejiang River,Wind through the pines of Jiulisong and Wind through the Pines of Fengling,and Evening Bell Ringing at Nanping Hill,this thesis explores how these sound phenomena and their images had been developed into soundscape scenic spots with the interaction between human residential optimization and scenic spots exploitation.The interpretation of how the soundscape scenic spots became preferred options of the art of scenic title series and entitled as“strict four character expression”is also discussed.3.The basic features and shaping mechanism of the soundscape scenic spots of West Lake of HangzhouFrom the longitudinal study of the typical soundscape scenic spots in the evolving of the West Lake of Hangzhou,this thesis outlines the basic features and common shaping mechanism embodied in the whole process.4.Analysis on the value and inheritance status of the soundscape scenic spots of West Lake of HangzhouBased on the value formed in the process of the transformation,this thesis investigates the current situation of the typical soundscape scenic spots of West Lake of Hangzhou in the background of ecological civilization,analyzes contemporary needs and difficulties faced,and offers some preliminary reflections on inheritance.The results show that the soundscape scenic spots of West Lake of Hangzhou are rooted in the unique natural and humanistic environment of Hangzhou.The traditional thought of Shi jing(time-scenery),the scenery appreciation concept of Qing jing gong rong(co-fusion of emotion and scenery),the aesthetic practice of Guan ting yi ti(viewing and hearing as one),the poem and painting titles based on the interlinking of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,and the inheritance mode of Ming shi xiang sheng(mutual regeneration of name and entity)ect.all play important roles in the shaping of the soundscape scenic spots.The three types of typical soundscape scenic spots have been titled and re-titled in the evolution of the art of scenic title series,and finally developed into real scenery models of classic soundscape motifs,such as Jiang sheng yue se(The River Sound and Moonlight),Wan he song feng(The Pine-Soughing Valleys),and Yan si wan zhong(The Evening Bell from Mist-Shrouded Temples).Its shaping process embodies the poetic dewelling ideals and efforts of “Harmony between man and nature”and “Poetic,picturesque and musical appeal” in the traditional farming society.This research has preliminarily established soundscape scenic spots of West Lake of Hangzhou and their shaping mechanism,enriched the research content of Weat lake of Hangzhou,expanded the theoretical research of Chinese Landscape Architecture history represented by West Lake of Hangzhou,improved the cognition of Chinese scenic heritage.It not only provides a basis for the evaluation and protection of the soundscape heritages in the post world heritage application era,but also provides a comparable framework for the various difficulties faced by modern soundscape research,and even provides beneficial enlightenment for the reconstruction of the harmonious relationship between man and nature in the era of ecological civilization.
