Khasbuu,known as "Master of Shilezhai" and "Dammozi",was a Mongolian literary critic and novel translator in Qing Dynasty.Khasbuu translated 120 times of A Dream of Red Mansions into 40 times of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions,with a preface,reading,summary and 40 reversions.Khasbuu praised The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions,claiming that he was Cao Xueqin’s "bosom friend",and called The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions "Little A Dream of Red Mansions".To study the relationship between A Dream of Red Mansions and The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions is not only to explore the relationship between Khasbuu and Cao Xueqin,but also to deeply understand the typical case of mutual communication between Mongolian and Han literature.This paper consists of three parts: introduction,main body and conclusion.The first chapter compare the texts of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions and A Dream of Red Mansions.From the setting of backpages,the arrangement of chapters,the choice of characters,the deletion of plots,the reduction of space,and the translation of every word and sentence,The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions reflects Khasbuu’s unique understanding of A Dream of Red Mansions.The first section discusses the master copy of Khasbuu’s translation of A Dream of Red Mansions.There are more than one version of Khasbuu’s translation of A Dream of Red Mansions,among which the closest version is the version of Teng Hua Xie Ben.The second section compares the text word by word and sorts out the plot of A Dream of Red Mansions and The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions.Using the stories of Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu as a line,Khasbuu translated 120 times A Dream of Red Mansions into 40 times The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions.The third section sums up the three translation strategies of Khasbuu’s translation of A Dream of Red Mansions,namely the accuracy,fuzziness and rationality of translation.Khasbuu’s translation of A Dream of Red Mansions reached the standard of "faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance".The fourth section,with the way of case analysis,examines Khasbuu’s grasp of the plot of A Dream of Red Mansions.The second chapter compares the characters in of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions and A Dream of Red Mansions.Khasbuu readjusts the characters of A Dream of Red Mansions,adjusting 120 characters to 40 of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions.The first section presents the appearance of the characters in The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions,the relationship between the main characters of the four families and the relationship between the master and servant graphically.The second and third sections respectively discuss the characters in A Dream of Red Mansions that Khasbuu focuses on and assimilates.There are eleven characters in Khasbuu’s A Dream of Red Mansions,they are Jia Qiaojie,Shi Xiangyun,Miao Yu,Xiang Ling,Xue Yan,Cui Lv,You Shi,Liu Laolao,Qing ’er,Feng Ziying,Mo Yu and others.The characters in A Dream of Red Mansions assimilated by Khasbuu include Qin Shi and Yuanyang,Zhao Yiniang and Zhou Yiniang,Jin Chuan and You Sanjie,Ban Er and Zhou Xiucai,etc.The fourth section discusses the name of Dai Shu,so as to explore Khasbuu’s grasp of the narrative main line and the arrangement of characters in A Dream of Red Mansions.The third chapter compares the narrative structure of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions and A Dream of Red Mansions.The redeployment of plot,characters and scenes in The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions cannot be separated from the two words "narrative".The first section explains the three narrative strategies of adjusting the plot in the Little A Dream of Red Mansions,namely "one word with a passing","single line narration" and "transitional statement".The second section compares the narrative space of the big and the little one.On the one hand,the narrative time of the Little A Dream of Red Mansions" is either "vague"or "clear".On the other hand,the little one "diminishes" the narrative space of the A Dream of the Red Mansions and limits the activities of the characters in the Jia Mansion with the Grand View Garden as the core.The third section compares the structure of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions and A Dream of Red Mansions.A Dream of Red Mansions is a three-dimensional network structure,while the Little A Dream of Red Mansions is a planar network structure.In short,The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions is another A Dream of Red Mansions written by Khasbuu.The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions is not only a translation of A Dream of Red Mansions,but also an injection of Khasbuu’s subjective understanding of A Dream of Red Mansions.With the "Two Jade Things",Khasbuu rearranged and refined the multiple clues,scattered stories and complex characters,and reshaped the A Dream of Red Mansions into the Little A Dream of Red Mansions."Two jade Things" is the main line of the story of " of The Newly Translated Dream of Red Mansions,behind it also contains Khasbuu’s moral values,values,and even thinking of human nature,which is the significance of Khasbuu’s translation of A Dream of Red Mansions.
